President Donald Trump on Saturday was photographed wearing a mask during a visit to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, after months of refusing to don the medical expert-recommended face coverings meant to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
"I love masks in the appropriate locations," Trump said, speaking to reporters at the White House before his visit.
Trump's usual reluctance to cover his mouth and nose in public has been a point of controversy during the nation's coronavirus crisis, especially as cases of COVID-19 continue to spike particularly in Republican-led states.
Before taking off for Walter Reed, Trump said he'd "probably" wear a mask.
"I think when you're in a hospital, especially in that particular setting, where you're talking to a lot of soldiers and people that, in some cases, just got off the operating tables, I think it's a great thing to wear a mask," the president told reporters. "I've never been against masks, but I do believe they have a time and a place."
IT’S A HOSPITAL!
“...He should have a mask with the POTUS seal ...”
He should have one that says “Hey Joe... Bite Me...”
Screw NPR! Kellyanne Conway sent out an email shortly after Trump’s election asking what federal agencies should be abolished. I replied saying a number, including the Legal Services Corporation, NPR, National Endowment for the Arts, and a host of others. Nothing has happened, leading me to believe nothing will happen. She never replied, instead putting up with that obese retromingent husband of hers and that insolent daughter.
It seems we are doomed, despite the election and hopeful relection of Trump. Kellyanne, where the hell are you and what are you doing?
Not the first
Except that a staggering 42% of all coronavirus deaths are in deep blue states of New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Deep red states like South Dakota have had very very few deaths. Republican states are vastly better off.
Trump already put on a mask at that PPE Ford factory a few months back. Nobody has been against putting on masks in hospitals for surgery or around patients who just got wheeled out of surgery.
However putting on masks while out walking in the streets is stupid. It's gonna reduce your oxygen supply and accumulate bacteria in it.
LOL....look closer!
Or...Bad A$$
I like that too... but I think something more like “If THIS has to be ON MY face, then it’s going to be IN YOUR face...” to the demwits...
You know what I mean??? :^)
What about wearing masks in businesses or other indoor spaces, and working hard either to wash them regularly or wear disposable ones one time only?
Not impressed.
It’s encouraging, and a good thing. Should have been doing this since the beginning
It’s extremely unfortunate that masks and the response to covid19 became about politics in the first place. For some reason he took it as if it was a political thing against him so had to pretend it was not really a thing
Just wear a mask or whatever we need to do to get this over with so we can get started again
VERY NICE, I didnt see it!!
I have had type I diabetes for 40 years, and for that reason am arguably immunocompromised. I dont insist on crowded bars or restaurants rearranging their business model to accommodate me, but I still need to buy groceries and do other things. This rebellion against masks, despite their apparent success in the Far East, mystifies me. If all you do all day is post on FR, of course you face almost no risk.. But for people like me, who do need to go out and face Covid risk from time to time, the refusal to wear masks because its seen as some kind of Deep State conspiracy is genuinely dispririting,
I hope the presidents willingness to wear one when the circumstances call for it will cause some people to reconsider.
It’s there.
