Washington(CNN) America's top general launched an outspoken attack on the Confederacy and signaled his support for the military renaming bases named for Confederate leaders on Wednesday, in his latest public comments that seem to put him at odds with President Donald Trump.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley did not hold back in an appearance before the House Armed Service Committee, stating that "those officers turned their back on their oath," referring to the names on the bases. "It was an act of treason, at the time, against the Union, against the Stars and Stripes, against the US Constitution

Walter Williams explains about where the right to secede is found. Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary war, and in the constitutions of at least three states when they joined the union.
Also he points out the obvious. The Federal Government is a creation of the states, not the opposite.
Stupid General.
Innocent until proven guilty. And the statute of limitations has run out.
That this is rated as news by CNN shows that it is a nothing-burger.
Who do you mean by your uses of the words dude and you?
The Articles of Confederation said the Union was perpetual, but the Constitution does not say it is perpetual.
The Union under the Articles was a different Union than the Union under the Constitution. So said George Washington, the President of the Constitutional Convention and the President of the United States.
The Constitution does not prohibit secession, not does it give the central government or the non-seceding states the power under the Constitution to stop the secession of other states. Also, the three authors (Madison, Hamilton, and Jay) of the Federalist Papers that explained the Constitution also voted for their own states' ratifications of the Constitution that said their state could resume or reassume its own governance. The Tenth Amendment basically says the same thing.
Miley Cyrus...supposed general...
There were a few exceptions like Jefferson Davis, etc.
The general pardon was for the troops. The High ranking officers and high level officials had to apply for pardons and they were given on an individual basis as far as I have read. Bost did apply and were granted their pardon.
Because Lincoln knew the nation had enough of the war and Lincoln himself didn’t want to fan the flames of any lingering Southern resentment or inspire a guerilla type war which is what Davis wanted.
Before Grant left for Appomattox Lincoln said to him “Let ‘em up easy’’.
The South’s constitution didn’t make secession from the confederacy any easier.
So not in the Constitution as the poster claimed. Thanks, because no one can site the article or section that permits secession. There isnt one.
How would you like to be under the command of these swampy military leaders?
Does the Country need a serious general purge or what....
I really dont respect this General.
Hes gone political whore and has a very shallow grasp of history tinged by his obvious ideology.
Never thought Id see this in a CJCS.
Would be a shame if the CJCS had an accident.
Marky just WOKED! What a dumbass we have leading our military!
In the aftermath of the Civil War, President Andrew Johnson on this day in 1868 issued pardons to all Confederate soldiers who fought in that conflict. The president extended unconditionally, and without reservation ... a full pardon and amnesty for the offence [sic] of treason against the United States,"

No they were just pardoned for their treason. That didn't change the fact they has committed it.
Apppointed by Trump.
