The Chiefs have their guy for the long haul.

Superstar quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes has agreed to terms on a 10-year extension that will keep him in Kansas City through the 2031 season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday afternoon.

Schefter later reported the deal is worth more than $400 million.

Ten year deal for a percentage of the salary cap instead of a set amount.

Putting politics aside, he is an incredibly gifted quarterback. I think he scored seven touchdowns in a row close to the end of the season in the playoffs.

it’s always a risk but if they have the money and fans are willing to spend that much for them to give the salary then it is what it is

It’ll be interesting to see how much of this is guaranteed. But good for him. He’ll be the envy of the league at his position. Dak Prescott wanted similar money.

Wow smart contract. I always wonder why anybody signs up for long term flat rate. Everybody knows that 4 years later the salaries will go up and the player will be wanting to renegotiate. Hooked as a percentage he’ll stay with inflation.

In other news, the price of a nosebleed seat ticket to an NFL game is now $85,000.00

Does he still get paid if the NFL goes bankrupt?

Lol

at the beginning of the year it was almost impossible for them to lose me this year after having skipped a number of years. I watched the last year and it was a good season. They would have had to say the unthinkable for me not to watch this year. They did it! :-)

He’s Favre, Montana, and Bradshaw all rolled into one. Just a dynamic QB who’s humble and down to Earth.

Does he get to kneel? Will he be allowed to be politically incorrect? Is he racist/sexist? Who cares whether or not he can play football. What are his politics, that is all that seems to be important these days?

I would love to see Montana in his day with a good team against Kansas City.

The guy was incredible and incredibly poised

Without a very good offensive line Brady gets a little itchy in the pocket. But of course he’s still great

He’s already had one serious injury, causing him to miss games, and he’s not as big & punishing as Cam Newton. He’s not going to last 10 years, so more power to him to get as much as he can.

Now that the deal is closed, will the Leftists come after the Chiefs team name? It’s obvious they weren’t going to do anything before Mahomes “got paid.”

Putting politics aside, he is an incredibly gifted quarterback. I think he scored seven touchdowns in a row close to the end of the season in the playoffs.

In three playoff games last season the Chiefs were down by double-digits in each game - including 23-0 to the Texans - and won each game by double digits. They put up 41 unanswered points against the Texans.

In two years as a starter, Mahomes has a 23-7 record. He's passed for 9,128 yards with 76 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 490 yards and four touchdowns on 103 carries. I don't know if any athlete is worth $400 million. But if any athlete is going to get it then it should be Mahomes.

He said something about black lives matter. He’s half white and half black. But the question you asked is a valid one. I am skipping the season because of things the NFL said they are doing. I’m missing one of the few things I love in life and I hope it’s the right decision.

maybe there is no right or wrong decision. There is just the decision you make and you stand by it. I hold no ill will towards anybody who watches this season

Does he get to kneel?

He hasn't yet.

Will he be allowed to be politically incorrect?

Mahomes' personal opinions are not something he talks about. He's not an in-your-face kind of person.

What are his politics, that is all that seems to be important these days?

I doubt we'll ever know that.

While I have loved football for many years, I have recently begun to wonder why.

He’s a young kid and again politics aside I hope he was raised right and the money doesn’t ruin him.

I don’t agree with his BLM stance but I hope he has a great life.

Seems like a good enough guy

Jerry Rice among others, Mostly Rice is who made Montana great.

Did Montana never play KC in one of many 49er super bowl years?

Hmmm... Guess it is easy to predict the usual downward performance-slide that occurs frequently in sports after mega-deals are signed...

Bad news for Chiefs fans... Real fans would have preferred to see an annual performance-based deal negotiated after each season...
Play spectacular... Get spectacular pay...
Play sucks... Pay sucks...
