Watch young Americans stumped over what July 4 means They were 'bleating about how the country is racist'

Young Americans are seriously lacking in knowledge of what the July 4 holiday means, a new video released by Campus Reform reveals.

But they are fully capable of "bleating about how the country is racist," a report on the video explains.

See the man-in-the-street interviews done by Campus Reform:

But it was at Summit News that the criticism was leveled.

"Young Americans displayed a complete lack of knowledge about the 4th July holiday, instead bleating about how the country is racist," the commentary said. "When asked what the holiday commemorates and other details concerning the Declaration of Independence, most of those interviewed had no clue."

In fact, some guesses included that the U.S. gained its independence during the Civil War, or World War I, or even World War II.

One student justified the level of familiarity with history, stating, "I just know that teachers do not want to teach it."

One opinion was, "America was built off of slavery."

And of course President Trump was cited by one as proof that the country is racist.

There were a lot of guesses for when the U.S. got its independence: 1967, 1859, 1964, 197-something, 1864 and one who got close, 1777.

Don’t make the same mistake I did and watch any of the video. It will make you sick and likely spoil your whole day.

True. But two of the women interviewed are teachers.

My son says we will have to kill half of his generation to save the country.

The bad news for him and the rest of the males in the sane part of his generation is that most of those who need to be wiped out appear to be female.

I watched another video a couple of days ago. Can’t remember who made it. The guy was on the beach asking people questions about the 4th of July. He asked them what happened in 1776, and some didn’t know, or said it was when Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Only one white girl knew the correct answer. Seeing those two girls in this video, who claimed to be grammar school teachers, not even know the significance of the 1776 date, makes me glad I don’t have any grandchildren.

You’re son is right. When I see these people spouting off about revolution, and changing the government, in my mind I’m saying: “Then prepare to die.”

Bleating is correct. They’re like sheep, not even researching what they’re told. They want only to be part of the herd mentality so that they’ll fit in and be popular, and hating America is what they think they must do.

Just like certain GOP Senators... :)

You are absolutely right. People join gangs to gain power, protection, and to be a part of something, and don’t really caring what the ideology of the group is. I saw it a lot when I worked in the prison system.

Wasn’t it Mohamed Ali who said that the best thing that ever happened to him was when his granddaddy got out of Africa on that slave ship?

Yes, I remember him saying that. I did a search and found this:

"After the 'Rumble in the Jungle' with Joe Frazier in Zaire, and having witnessed at first hand the chaos of black Africa, Ali is reported to have said, words to the effect, 'I’m glad my ancestors got on board that slave ship..!' "

"There were a lot of guesses for when the U.S. got its independence"

In the early 1950s, when I was in second or third grade, and my sister was a grade ahead, she and I made up a poem, totally on our own, about Independence Day. It went like this:

In seventeen seventy six
The Declaration was signed
of Independence, by Jefferson
It didn't even cost a dime

I know, I know, it's a crummy poem, but we weren't even ten years old. We had already been taught that Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776!

Getting ready for “FLAMING” but I have said for years the easiest majors are Education and Journalism. They have gotten rid of history and civics because they are too hard and don’t suit the agenda. Of course all of STEM has been dumbed down

> I have said for years the easiest majors are Education and Journalism. <

I don’t know much about the Journalism major.

But I know quite a bit about the Education major. That major should be abolished. If you want to teach, say, chemistry, you should first have to get a degree in chemistry. (That’s exactly what I did, by the way.) And then you should have to study under a master teacher for three months or so.

And from what I’ve seen, the most dangerous degree of them all is the Doctorate in Education. Folks with that degree end up as supervisors. And they always start their little talks with “Current research shows...”.

Well, that “research” is almost always silly, contradictory garbage that has no connection to the real world.

Oh, the stories I could tell you.

The year 1776 is represented at each Military Funeral in the from of the 21 Gun Salute. Add the 1776=21.

We see war story’s of a military weapon stuck in the ground and a hermit placed the the rifle. Why? One it marks a passed warrior. But this tradition foots back to ancient times of warriors demonstrating their peaceful intentions by resting the point of their weapons on the ground. So by making a solder’s weapon useless, it shows that he has come in peace and this has not changed as warfare changed over the centuries.

The 21 gun salute originated with the British Navy. 21-gun salute occurring during military funerals is known as the “3 Volleys,” the salute that occurs during soldiers’ funerals follows a battlefield tradition where both sides stopped fighting so that they could remove their dead from the field. The series of three shots, or volleys, let the other side know that the dead had been taken care of and that that battle could resume.

I struggled mightily to understand just what that meant. Then I got it. It’s supposed to be ‘helmet”, not “hermit’.

But rest assured that I have made even worse mistakes. I always blame those typos on Russian hackers. Those Rooskies are always up to no good.
