An assault on an 18-year-old biracial woman in Wisconsin is being investigated as a hate crime after she was set on fire in her car, according to the Madison Police Department.
The victim, Althea Bernstein, told authorities she was stopped at a red light Wednesday with her driver's side window down when she heard someone yell a racial slur. It was at that point that four white men allegedly sprayed a liquid on her face and neck and then threw a flaming lighter at her, which caused the liquid to ignite, according to the incident report.
Scared, Bernstein began to drive and patted out the flames, the report stated. She drove home, where her mother told her to go to the hospital.
At the hospital, she was treated for burns and will need to make follow-up visits for additional medical care, authorities said. Hospital staff, according to police, believe the liquid was lighter fluid.

(My phone has two cameras, so I can do the selfie reverse, or turn the camera around and get an “as-is” picture.
Why does the official incident report prominently identify her as “bi-racial”?
I understand when they provide a race for a possible suspect, because they use “race” as a stand-in for skin color and other features, which might be helpful in identifying the perp.
But how is her “bi-racial” nature of any interest to the incident?
Since there is no writing, can’t tell, but since the picture with her hair gone was taken by a photographer, I assume it is “correct”, and the burn is on her left side, and the first picture was her cell-phone picture, which was reversed and shows it on her right side.
(I told someone this once after they took a picture, and they were like “what”? Because the picture looks like what you see in a mirror, so they didn’t perceive it as “reversed”.)

I’m not going to contradict the story until an investigation is completed.
But the story does seem problematic, in several ways.
First, the obvious, “4 men” didn’t ALL spray her, or throw a lighter.
Second — if I had a spray bottle with fluid, and squirted it at someone enough to actually get stuff on them, it would be a LOT of spray. It would run down her face, her neck, onto clothing.
However, just throwing a lighter, as others said, isn’t enough, it has to be a lighter that stays lit. Heck, if you threw a match, it would probably go out from wind. So, an expensive lighter, the police should have it and be tracing it.
If you aren’t like a foot away, the chances of the lighter managing to light the small amount of fluid she apparently had on her is slim. If it was enough fluid for the lighter to actually catch on fire, it would have caught her clothing, and burned solid on her face.
She says she swiped it up from her neck. But she didn’t show burns on her hands, which I would think would have burns if she drug burning fluid with her hands to her face.
She could be telling the truth. She might have been involved in the nearby firebombing. Maybe she was just a victim of it, and doesn’t want to admit seeing it, and was going to be quiet but once her mother found her she had to make up a story.

A can of zippo lighter fluid, which I use regularly, sprays just a tiny stream, and it wouldn’t go more than a foot from the can.
Any type of flammable liquid would have been hard to extinguish and would be likely to spread. If there were flames from a liquid in that area of her face her hair would have lit up like a firecracker.
Those burns are more concentrated each one in it’s own area. Like they were made with a hot piece of metal like a curling iron or an iron. Where is her Boyfriend or the baby Daddies ?

I don’t believed it happened the way she said. She either did it or had someone do it. If you will notice they all follow variations of the same script. A bunch of people....... They said or they made...........
If this actually happened (a stretch, I know, too many red flags—I’m awaiting the video from the many surveillance cameras in the intersection) odds are that the perps were BLM/Antifa rioters (probably about 4 to 1 white) who had just earlier that evening beaten up a gay state senator only a couple of blocks away at the capitol, pulled down 2 statues, and tried to set the police department on fire. The white ones are generally the most violent, especially the women.

The one showing the burn on the left side of the face appears to be reversed. There is a mole or something on her right cheek in the other two photos.

That video shows the alleged location. There’s a liquor store right on the corner. It seems to be a confluence of several streets. Lots of businesses. Surely some of them have video.
Thank god she was bi racial, if she were a full bred white she would have never been entertained
