A Minneapolis restaurant owner is standing in solidarity with protesters after his building suffered fire damage, declaring that 'justice needs to be served' in the death of George Floyd. Gandhi Mahal Restaurant, located at the 3000 block of 27th Avenue and just around the corner from the Minneapolis Police Third Precinct, took to Facebook on Friday to share that the eatery 'caught fire and has been damaged.' 'We won’t loose hope though,' said the restaurant owner's daughter, Hafsa, in the post. 'I am so grateful for our neighbors who did their best to stand guard and protect Gandhi Mahal, You're efforts won’t go unrecognized.'

Not caring about his insured building implies expectation of the event’s occurrence.

Probably doing him a favor. Burn the business, collect the insurance.

Being in business sucks right now with all of the lockdowns.

It’s insured and he was going to have to close down anyway. This saves him from hiring his own arsonist.

The insurance company is going to be really interested in what he says.

Can you imagine what insurance rates are going to go to in Minnesota? It will probably hurt the rest of the country also.

We are all going to pay for this.

At this point, George Floyd is getting the justice that he earned in life, and there is no Earthly power that can change it.

Losses from RIOTS are NOT covered by insurance. Read your policies-—

Another reason why losses from WATTS Riots re still not rebuilt.

If they didn’t overwhelm you with obnoxious ads, I might consider adding them to a white list. But their position is “allow us to be obnoxious to you or you can’t read our site”. Fine, my position is “I don’t need to read your trashy site.”

Actually damage for rioting would be covered if it is a named peril, and it probably is because it is likely so inexpensive a business owner could hardly pass it up.

So, just call it “Chad”, and they are good to go?

Yeah .. no.. pretty sure every policy, whether life, property, automobile, fire, business, has an exclusion for riots or insurrection, “Acts of God”, meteors, etc. If you wrote policies for businesses or homeowners, what side of the issue would you come down on? If they had to cover riots, nobody could afford the premiums in many locations.
