In a similar way, face masks are tied to the political conflict over our response to the coronavirus. Those who lean left politically tend to see the virus as a more dire threat; those on the right are more likely to downplay its seriousness or compare it to less deadly strains like the flu, often following the lead of conservative politicians.
Accordingly, masks may be seen as a marker of political loyalty, triggering feelings of us-versus-them. A politically liberal person may assume that someone wearing a mask is on their team, while those who dont wear masks must be Fox News-watching Republicans. The anger they feel is not simply about the mask, but about believing the non-mask wearer is a certain type of person.

Ive actually just ordered a mask, of course its a leather seam punk mask. Next I think Ill get a pair of long cuff gauntlet gloves, and a leather peaked cap with the word dystopia tooled on it. If were going to live in a dystopian society might as well go all the way.
Agree,
To many, the mask is a political statement, another virtue signal.
It’s parenting gone awry which is what happened to this society writ large.
People used to have large families and they had their hands full teaching or trying to control their own kids. Also they learned the limits of trying to control other people, and how it can backfire.
A commenter above mentioned a woman giving him a lecture about going the wrong way in the aisle, which would be appropriate if he was her five year old child.
Maybe she has kids maybe not, but society as a whole is not having children (at least not in stable families) anymore and is killing a high percentage of them, so it’s no surprise that the parenting instinct becomes untethered.
“Socialists Wet Dream.”
EXACTLY. “Essential” v “Non-Essential” It’s a BIG CLUB out here, and they are not in it. Know your slavemaster. List grievances against them. Thanks FF. 535+++ vs. 330 MILLION - snowflakes - turncoats.
Id vs. Superego for the doc. There is EVIL in the world, in the republic.
‘Unless you are performing hip surgery on the street, no one expects you to wear a mask that long.’
time to put the bottle down; guess you forgot about employees...I work at a library part time, which when it reopens would require four hours of mask wearing on the days that I work, which is why I’m not going back to work...
The following is a research-not commercial site:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/258525804_Testing_the_Efficacy_of_Homemade_Masks_Would_They_Protect_in_an_Influenza_Pandemic
Quoting their CONCLUSIONS: any mask, no matter how efficient at filtration or how good the seal, will have minimal effect if it is not used in conjunction with other preventative measures, such as isolation of infected cases, immunization, good respiratory etiquette, and regular hand hygiene. ..(How is that different than what we’ve done for weeks?) And these masks would provide the wearers little protection from microorganisms from others persons who are infected with respiratory diseases. As a result, we would not recommend the use of homemade face masks as a method of reducing transmission of infection from aerosols.
I hear FOX’s old piner, pushing face masks and in his advertisement states they are 93% effective against microbes. Listeners don’t understand that microbes includes both bacteria and virus. Yea, those masks are effective against bacteria but does not work against virus. SARS virus responsible for CoVid19 is 1200 Angstrom length - the wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light.
I see dolts doing the morning walk, by themselves, on empty roads wearing masks. By themselves in a car. By themselves walking in an empty parking lot. The virtue signaling makes me far more ill than the Corona ever could.
I do all those things and I do not wear a CPAP. THINKING about wearing a mask makes it hard for me to breathe.
Claustophobia.
“In northern NJ, were all wearing masks.”
Negative. In Hoboken, it’s about half and declining. People getting hip to it.
CPAP...LOL
Wear one of those masks with a skeleton design or similar and pair it with a Hawaiian shirt. Maybe top it with a ball cap with a gunmaker logo and some sunglasses.
It screams "BOOGALOO", but hey, you're just complying, right?
We point and laugh at those people. Sometimes the big “L” with thumb and forefinger.
I hate masks so much that I will be having surgery without any family or friends with me.
Our hospital just opened up to allow “one individual” with patients before, during, and after surgery. However, that individual must wear a mask at all times. I told my husband and my sister to drop me off in front on surgery day, and pick me up in front a few days later. I wouldn’t think of inflicting mandatory masks on them. My pastor can’t show up either.
My wife and I wear gas masks into Costco, since they forced mask use. We have no other masks.
We have never worn anything anywhere else.
Its fun to watch peoples reactions!
Thinly disguised for: Those of us who are smart and thus lean left politically tend to see the virus as a more dire threat; those on the right are stupid and tend to wait until far-right politicians tell them what to think.
No, you have to think as they do. So what they really think is that by wearing a mask:
is like imagining life under the loving and caring almighty figure who will protect them from all things bad. They need it because we have allowed the removal of the Lord from the public square. In addition we have mocked him so that they dare not believe that the Lord is a reality, for fear of being mocked themselves.
Masks are a symbol of submission. Statists love to see all those people slavishly walking around with a face mask, in sheepish obedience. If they conform to that edict, they will willingly conform to the next.
The person without a mask triggers leftists because they hate anyone who declares his independence and freedom. Exactly as the MAGA hat triggers them, or the Confederate flag.
The comments here on FR are hilarious! and to the point.
No shoes, No shirt....No Mask, No Service. Simple.
