LOL

I truly envy folks like you. My beloved husband can do the assembling as well. He actually put back together a sewing table I had managed to wreck.

Myself? Not a chance of assembling anything. When I was active duty a male colleague of mine reminded me that I have to be 2% smarter than the object I was working on at the time.

He was obviously comfortable enough in our friendship to where he knew I would never take it as a sexist comment.

LOL

Hobby Lobby looks to have a lot of cheap stuff at too high a price.

I can't understand some of the comments here.

Our coffee table is from Pier 1. We have had it for decades, along with a sofa table in the same style. When we remodeled our kitchen about 8 years ago, the only store that had the barstools we wanted was Pier 1. We also have various holiday decor that got there. It will be sad to see them go.

Companies like Pier 1 will usually approach a large discount retailer to buy their inventory. There used to be a company here in New England called Building 19. Their motto was “good stuff cheap”. They would buy close outs like this. Maybe a company like “Ollies” will buy all their stock at $.10/dollar.
Overstock.com may also be interested in their entire inventory.
For a liquidation company, this makes more sense than keeping stores open, paying employees, electricity, insurance, etc.

Same thing with the store in Nashua.
It always seemed like a store targeting young women that impulse buy.

True, though it might turn out to be liquidate-in-place. The report was they want to auction off the IP by late June. If it's not bankruptcy they can do whatever they want and be quick about it.

oops, pardon me, left out the rest of my comment.

(since it is bankruptcy)...

They’ll probably take longer than they think because every move has to be approved.

Well that’s interesting. I remember Pier 1 being a fascinating place to wander around in back in the day and very stylish. A couple years ago I stopped by the local Pier 1 after probably twenty years of not having stepped foot in one and actually was saddened by the banality of the merchandise and general sense that they had lost their mojo. But now you’ve got me wondering if maybe that wasn’t a fluke somehow. I should go back before they disappear and double check my impression.

Very astute observation! Love that Blues Brothers movie, but I admit I forgot all about that mall car chase scene, lol.
