Ventura County officials were forced Wednesday to apologize and clarify that those who could not isolate or quarantine themselves would never be forcibly removed from their homes as part of an effort to further contain...the coronavirus.
Video circulated on social media showed Dr. Robert Levin, the director of Ventura County Public Health, speaking before the board of supervisors Tuesday about a plan to hire up to 50 new “contact tracing investigators” to “find people who have COVID-19 and immediately isolate them, find every one of their contacts, make sure they stay quarantined and check in with them every day.”
Levin admitted his poor messaging during another press conference Wednesday, stressing those who test positive or who are identified by officials as having come in contact with an infected person would not be forcibly removed from their homes.
“I either misspoke or it was misinterpreted – I’ll take the blame of having misspoke,” Levin said. “Yesterday, at this conference, at the Board of Supervisors, I gave people the impression that if you were isolated, you would be taken out of your home and put into a hotel room or a motel room or sequestered in some other way.”
“If I did do that, I am very sorry," he said. "That is an option. That is possible. If you become infected, you don’t want to stay in your home, you’re afraid that you’ll expose other people, we’ll work with you to find a place to stay. And, it’s likely to be a hotel of a motel. We will desire for you to have your own room in your place of residence and a bathroom that can be dedicated to just you. Now, not everyone is fortunate enough to have more than one bathroom, so we’ll work with you.”

He is just repeating what he said. Any infected person in a home that does not provide a separate bathroom...will be removed. By one means of persuasion or another. I guess then you suffer alone in your hotel room. If you get hospitalized your family cannot visit. If you die, its alone.
This really is the worst backpedal ever. It sounds like this guy read the internal briefing initially, you know, the specifics of what they planned to do but never tell us.
Then when the world freaked, they trot this guy back out to basically say "I'm sorry you all correctly interpreted the police State tactics we will employ. That's all still in play. And we actually did it already. But I promise it'll be good for you."
Send 'em this the next time someone says "oh, you're overreacting. It can't happen here."
As you know, I’ve been to Staten Island...I don’t think anyone in their right mind would do that there. They’ll do it in Brooklyn instead, where the people are more inclined to go willingly into the night...because that is part of their civic duty.

When we lived in Ventura County (Simi Valley), it was on the conservative side. Seems that a lot has changed in 10 years.

Hillary beat Trump 55% to 37% in Ventura County vs 62% to 32% for CA as a whole, so it’s relatively more conservative. But this is bat guano crazy.

Just like in Wusan, China in January - sealed into a room, aka ‘hospital’ with no medicine no doctors no nurses no machines no toilets no windows no exit; demolish building without opening in a month, grind and reuse to pave roads and make concrete.
Lived near there for 20 years. I am appalled at some of my ‘friends’ from that era. They are completely behind this. BUT if this had been proposed by the Republicans?? The cries of FASCISM would be ringing all across the state.
All of California is doing well. My guess is they are outdoorsy people there, the weather is good, so they are out and about with refusing to be cooped up like the miserable people in New York City. Sure Idiot Newsome can keep retail and restaurants closed but I think many in California are at work. Farm work obviously, construction and so on.
And we keep hearing how the homeless population in Los Angeles and San Francisco are doing very well. They are outdoors all day and Covid transmission is nearly zero outdoors. Especially with sun and any kind of breeze.
