New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy will announce Monday that all public and private schools in the state will remain closed for the rest of the academic year, POLITICO has learned.

Murphy will make the announcement at his daily briefing — scheduled for noon in Trenton — alongside state Education Commissioner Lamont Repollet, according to a statement from the governor’s office obtained by POLITICO.

“This is a difficult decision and I know that many students, parents, and staff would like to be able to return to school,” Murphy said in the statement. “However, I have been unwavering on the message that we need to make decisions based on science, not emotion. And while New Jersey is making great strides in mitigating the spread of COVID-19, science tells us that at this point, we can’t safely re-open our schools.”

That’s 40 states. Honestly the other 10 might as well. Begin the day after Labor Day like all schools used to.

My governor old Phil is a complete POS. My wife is a teacher and that means she’s home with me until September now.....sigh. She’s probably saying the same thing about me because my company is telling us we will be WFH for the remainder of the calendar year. We have gone well and truly insane in this country.

DJT mentioned last night that teachers over 65 y/o should stay home until there is a vaccine? I think I heard that right.

They spent that the first day school opened. Actually, the parents should be getting that money now since they are mostly doing the teachers jobs.

They should retire already if they are still teaching at that point. Trump is starting to really annoy many with this vaccine nonsense. If you remember during the debates in 2016 he was an anti-vaxxer then morphed into letting the parents decide. This will become mandatory. Mark my words.

This POS carpet bagging Smurphy could never have dreamed of the good fortune he has been given to be a tyrant. He already had NJ swirling down the bowl with his Trentonian sycophants and now the socialist virus. The state has been ballot harvested and gerrymandered so the Republican is almost extinct. NJ has some of the most idiotic voters so NJ is permanently blue.

True, what hurts most? It’s my mom and dad.

Hard working people. My mother does not appreciate President Trump strutting around with his suit jacket opened. Will not vote for him because he will be seen with a unbuttoned suit jacket.

I just shake my head. Then she goes off on her sewer and water bill.

It’s fascinating and confusing at the same time.

She has one of those PhD’s.

Gosh, you can hear home values deflating at maybe a even greater pace.

The shrinking tax revenue? Oh man, the shortfall that’s gonna come the property owner.

Whew boy, the pain just began.

So many of these folks just clawed back from 2008 and Huricane Sandy.

Rebuilt to order bigger better homes. New trucks and cars. Boats. A whole new set of problems.

It’s great if your on a DOT road job, your gonna do great.

The hair dresser? Small business.

Its gonna be tough. Unemployment still not processing from what I hear.
