Lawmakers were seen wearing bulletproof vests as armed protesters stormed Michigan's Capitol in Lansing just moments before the state's House of Representatives denied Gov Gretchen Whitmer's request to extend her state of emergency.
Photos from inside the Michigan House Chamber showed elected officials wearing bulletproof vests while men holding guns stood above them.
'Directly above me, men with rifles yelling at us. Some of my colleagues who own bullet proof vests are wearing them. I have never appreciated our Sergeants-at-Arms more than today,' Sen Dayna Polehanki tweeted Thursday afternoon.
In Michigan, guns are permitted inside the state's Capitol as long as they are visible and carried with lawful intent.
Protesters, who weren't wearing masks, were seen yelling within inches of officers from the Michigan State Police.
Others were heard chanting: 'Let us in! Let us in!' ...

Exactly. This is not the battlefield for this type of display. This is what happens without planning-- the fruits and nuts come out. Share with us, please, what you've done to communicate this message to your legislators and Governor.

Sternly worded letters usually proceed armed conflict, in a functioning democracy populated by sane people. Really? Examples?

They just keep electing liberals and should live with their decisions. Communicating with the government is a part of the political process. I would say this is effective.

The forces of evil are not a nation, nor do they have any right to a say in our government.

I dont live in Michigan but Im hoping this action today will have made the regime think twice. At one point she even said she was extending it as a punishment for people objecting to some of her earlier orders. I'm interested to see her response. The protestors have upped their response.
And sent a message to Frau Governor: up yours.

With that attitude, you might just as well suspend the 2nd Amendment "during times of protest"... I believe that's what he said.

This issue is not for legislators or governors-- it is for local grassroots activism.
Such as my militia group.

Never interfere with an enemy when they are destroying themselves.
Your tactics and comments are brainless. You are going to make her a sympathetic person.

“Armed demonstrators” is literally true as people who attended brought weapons (legally by the way) and protested peacefully. The article was supposed to paint a picture of a violent takeover of a government building. Typical fake news assholes.

Fair Enough. My hat is off to your service, but I still do not support your position.
I first served in 1956, US Army out in 1960. Too young for Korea. I got out and worked a while Joined Navy in 63 and only did the battle of Olongapo several times no ground combat. Was happy to do it and was happy to get out. Was at Sea in Tonkin Gulf when Kennedy was assassinated.

Wow - actually quite impressive - and the Battle of Olongapo was not for the faint hearted! Doing the army and the navy must have been fascinating - how was the transition for you?
I have a younger brother who served in the army in Vietnam and was also wounded and another brother who served in the navy aboard ship.
I know that you disagree with me - but it's your right, you've earned it.
