JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Adult clubs in one Florida city are suing over a new law that raised the minimum age for strippers from 18 to 21.
The law in Jacksonville was enacted March 5 in a bid to reduce human trafficking. But lawyers for the clubs, including the lead plaintiff Wacko’s, contend in a federal lawsuit that it violates the First Amendment by restricting the ability of performers to dance.
“The Constitution does not permit the deprivation of First Amendment rights based on the age of … citizens who have attained the age of 18,” attorneys Gary Edinger and James Benjamin argue in a complaint filed in the names of 13 businesses and four dancers, two of them under age 21.
The Florida Times-Union reported that after the law was signed, the clubs were prevented from using close to 100 dancers under age 21 during a two-week period, according to the lawsuit.
The 140-page suit notes that people under 21 can hold any other job at those businesses, even own the clubs.

A person could join the military when he/she is 18 years old...
A person could be a waitress at the strip club when she is 18 years old...
But, this law will not allow somebody to work as a stripper before age of 21...

18 should be the universal adult age for everything.
What gets me is, if you’ve been to one strip club, you’ve been to them all. Hey, I’m and old sailor and I’ve been in a few. I’ve seen 18 year olds that look 30 and 21 look 40. The edge wore off for me at about 35. I’d rather play pool with a good looking girl but that’s just me.
I used to date a stripper in the West Virginia badlands. Her nickname was the Quaalude kid.

Certain things age people fast. Seem cool at the time. Kind of a shame looking back. Sad really.
I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Benning Ga. twice. I saw “Victory Drive” as a Private. I later came back as an NCO and found no use.It’s not good and it is what it is. I will say having a daughter makes me feel like plowing it all. I have also been oversees that culturally looks at things different. Age requirements in America are good to a degree but some are just asinine political and government nanny BS.
Drinking and smoking age is 21 in many places. Was there not also places that raised the age to buy a gun to 21 as well?

Yes indeed. It took a great deal of time and effort to escape her hold.
By age 21, they are far more likely to understand how this can come back on them in later years.
The clubs will be left with recruiting alcoholics and addicts.
More than a few are collage girls working the pole to pay for school.
They can dance a couple months in summer and pay for the whole year.
Hate to say it but 21 is a tad long in the tooth to be stripping.

Most in USA don’t allow fully nude, and I’ve been in quite a few.
