I got a warning also ‘strongly advising’ me to check my system date and time and hit the “back” key. I was able to click thru but I just today changed my primary DNS server to 1.1.1.1 as my ISP’s dns sucks. I must admit everything is much faster however.

Hope you figure it out, and hope other FReepers help.

For all snarkers: There is no need to ridicule our FReeper brothers and sisters...it’s not like we don’t know there are enemies out there, and when something weird happens the mind can wonder if something else/nefarious is going on.

Finally got back in after a long absence. The same thing happened to me using my Firefox browser for iPhone 8 Plus less than an hour ago. I got a warning but was given the option to proceed which I decided to risk.

Sometimes I have to try my Safari browser to get around problems and when that doesn’t work, well you know the expression.

I’m not having any problem accessing the site. I did once much earlier in the evening. Closed out Safari and re-opened it, and it’s been working fine. In the URL on Safari, it’s showing “Not Secure - free republic.com.” I went to the bookmarks and changed the https to http, but it’s still showing the same URL with “Not Secure.” This is a new MacBook Air, and I have no idea how long the URL has been that way. It also happened a while back with my old Apple laptop.

Fixed it by copying over the FR address link.

On DuckDuckGo I had to ignore all kinds of warnings to get here.

Because my date is one day ahead of EDT, they sent message that it’s showing this date. Is this correct they ask and I overide the warning to be able to post.

It’s Chrome that’s blocking because the FR server certificate expired. Chrome is doing the right thing.

Just use http://www.freerepublic.com instead of https://www.freerepublic.com ...no need for encryption when posting “public” posts anyway. It is not like FR is your bank or you are typing in your SSN or something. ;-) If donating use the “https://"; secure site though!

So what? People need to know that Firefox will let you in if you want.

“DuckDuckgo is a Chrome extension..”

Right. I found out DDG uses Google for queries, so don’t bother with it. So if lib Google’s query results bump lib sites to the top and filter our conservative sites, so will DDG.

And I’m fine with FreeRepublic on Chrome on my Windows 7 laptop — so far, so good, anyhow.

No problems here.

On my Windows10 PC, I recently changed from Chrome browser to the new MS Edge which uses the open source Chromium engine. This is same source that Chrome uses but Edge is faster without the Chrome tracking crap...at least for now.

The new MS Edge is much less memory intensive vs Chrome browser.

“changed from Chrome browser to the new MS Edge”

I noticed that Edge is the default browser on DH’s Windows 10 PCs. I don’t like it but, to be fair, haven’t given it much of a chance. I stick to my Windows 7 PCs.

and Brave!
I clicked for advanced, then proceeded to FR knowing full well the “certificate” has expired and I am exposed to extreme risk.

Just that it may not just be ‘chrome’ doing it. Nothing else.

I'm getting a certification blocked message from Microsoft's browser. Then this comes up:

This site is not secure

This might mean that someone’s trying to fool you or steal any info you send to the server. You should close this site immediately.

Go to your Start page

Details

Sounds like someone's trying to mess with us again.

Always good to get the straight info from you, Jim.
My Android phone was giving me the same message yesterday.
I had to push through the 'unsafe' notice to bring up FR.
