Aerial images show New York ramping up burials [trnc][graphic]

New York City officials trying to process a rising coronavirus death toll have been forced to ramp up burial operations at its public cemetery from one day a week to five.

Aerial images captured on Thursday showed 40 caskets lined up for burial at Hart Island — the same day New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo reported 799 new deaths across the state. Normally, about 25 bodies a week are interred there, mostly for people whose families can't afford a funeral, or who go unclaimed by relatives.

...Once a family member leaves home for the hospital the family will not see them again unless the ill person recovers. There is no retrieval of a body....

Thank God that is not true. I nearly lost my breakfast after reading your post. Please read the following:

I wonder what percentage of “COVID-19” deaths are from street homeless, who are exposed, and not in the best of health even in good times.

It must be a lot. If you are on the streets of NY City at all, you will see homeless with huge, gaping diabetic sores on their legs, obvious infections, the effects of meth or drug addiction, or any number of ailments. I can’t imagine many of them surviving very long even without Covid-19

Do you have a citation for your claim? Funny it hasn’t been mentioned in the press anywhere.

So it’s an NYC thing. This includes anyone who dies in a hospital? No open casket funeral? You don’t get to choose?

Nope, not fake news, I can personally attest to the Dept of Corrections buses filled with minimum security prisoners passing my elementary school and boarding the Michael Cosgrove ferry on its way to Hart Island. Exactly for how long, I’m too tired to look it up, but for far more than my 63 years. My Dad worked there in the ‘60s. I worked there in the ‘70s.

Hart Island has not been condemned, NYC just turned it over to the Parks Dept.

If they have been doing it for 150 years, and it increased only by a few more, it is fake news.

Yeah, but why is it not even a story when it’s 25 but when it it’s 40 it is a front page story?

It is not immediately clear how many of the bodies being buried at Hart Island are coronavirus victims —

Yep. Besides conspiracy theories, many narcissists tend to be addicted to bothering others. I have no further desire to visit tourist traps in any of the more liberal states. After the situation clears up, we’ll continue to see some enforced etiquette in the more conservative states, too. And there’s nothing like improved home cooking and picnics.

14 New Yorkers die of flu every day. 4,479 in all of 2018, the last year with total stats.

Coronavirus has beat NY's annual flu deaths in the past 2 weeks, FYI.

This graph is just NYC, not the entire state. More than 7,000 have died of CV in NY state.

Did not sound like they got to choose.

That trip by ambulance was the end. Last time they got to see the Dad. No closure. No visits. Nothing. Also, the dad had preexisting conditions, but got COVID19 and was the reason he was hospitalized.

Guess the medical authorities thought the disease was THAT contagious.

How Many People Have Actually Died From Coronavirus in New York?
The official statistics paint a partial picture and may understate the death toll. Here’s why.

NYT, April 10, 2020

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/10/nyregion/new-york-coronavirus-death-count.html

In the first five days of April, 1,125 people were pronounced dead in their homes or on the street in New York City, more than eight times the deaths recorded during the same period in 2019, according to the Fire Department.

Many of these deaths were probably caused by Covid-19, but were not accounted for in the coronavirus tallies given by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo during his widely watched daily news conferences — statistics that are viewed as key measures of the impact of the outbreak.

On Thursday, Mr. Cuomo said 799 people in New York had died from coronavirus in a single 24-hour period — more than 33 an hour — bringing the state’s total to 7,067.

But epidemiologists, city officials and medical personnel say those numbers are likely to be far below the city’s actual death toll.

The data on deaths of people in their homes or on the street shows that the state’s statistics don’t tell the whole story. Here’s what we know:

Everything is a grand, all encompassing conspiracy, perpetrated by millions of people meeting in secret to create a huge illusion. And only the very few, most intelligent and beautiful people in the world are trying to stop it after petting their s*it bulls or feral cats and taking another hit.

;D
