Even the doom and gloomers say 2 million deaths. We need to start having a conversation about what an ‘acceptable’ mortality rate is for this thing or the effect of it is going to destroy all of us. I think anything under 1mil would be a win. I know when I say that I sound like George C. Scott in the bunker in Dr. Strangelove, but we need to chang our mindset on this if we’re going to survive.

Quarantine the sick and medically vulnerable and let the rest of us get it.
With open borders and globalism We are all going to get it, anyway. If you are planning on not getting, you are going to have to become a hermit for the next year.

The challenge we have is that even with 1M deaths (a horrific number to be sure), this thing is gonna continue to spread.
We have to burn it totally out. And unfortunately the only way to do that is deny it fuel (people to pass it to others).
OR, develop a vaccine. But we’re at least a year, possibly 18 months from one being widely available - unless a miracle happens.
don’t trust the leaders of these organizations. They’re inherently political. It’s usually the professionals underneath that are competent.
I think it’s a temporary shutdown until we can get the protective gear available not only to health professionals but also to the masses.

I don’t know if he posts on FR or not but my brother’s coworker has it. Not sure if he’s been hospitalized for it or not. My brother is young and healthy but he lives with our parents so if he gets it they’re at risk.

He published a paper saying the same thing. Like a bad flu. As I recall, when Trump suggested the same, the media and Democrats went nuts. In fact, Pelosi is already threatening an investigation (after this is all over, of course) of how Trump allegedly downplayed this at the beginning and people died as a result.
The study in NY is waiting until a long time on a ventilator and using it as last resort.

Where are you seeing this reported?
My impression is they were putting relatively few restrictions on the study — basically just that the patient had to have tested positive for CV and the doctor had to document progress and outcome. I haven’t seen anything about requiring docs to wait until the patient is on a ventilator. That sounds unlikely to me.
