Because they have an idiot of a governor who basically let it happen.

Not even the coronavirus can thrive in California.

DC is way out front in pop density. NY is 12th and Cali is 17th as of 2015.

I wonder how much it spread just by people passing each other on the crowded sidewalks.

What’s up with New Rochelle lately? Wasn’t that a major hotspot early on? So worried about Rob, Laura, and little Richie.

California is relatively suburban even in the densest coastal areas, whereas NYC and environs is like a beehive.

I have to believe the subways had a lot to do with it. Lots of virus alive on the surfaces.

Perhaps this has something to do with it?
New York Health Officials Told Residents to Congregate in Huge Crowds in “Defiance” of Coronavirus
Summit News ^ | 3/23/20 | Paul Joseph Watson
Posted on 3/28/2020, 7:04:11 PM by Its All Over Except ...

Back in February, health officials in New York told residents to congregate in huge crowds in “defiance” of coronavirus, a move that could have exposed thousands of people to COVID-19.

New York City Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot posted a tweet on February 9 urging citizens to flock to Chinatown in large numbers to celebrate the lunar new year while suggesting that advice to avoid crowds was “misinformation.”

Commissioner Oxiris Barbot ✔ @NYCHealthCommr Today our city is celebrating the #LunarNewYear parade in Chinatown, a beautiful cultural tradition with a rich history in our city. I want to remind everyone to enjoy the parade and not change any plans due to misinformation spreading about #coronavirus. https://on.nyc.gov/377LlcH ...

On the same day, Mark D. Levine, Chair of New York City Council health committee, lauded how “huge crowds gathering in NYC’s Chinatown” was a “powerful show of defiance of #coronavirus scare,” tweeting four images of large groups of people gathered to celebrate the occasion.

Mark D. Levine ✔ @MarkLevineNYC In powerful show of defiance of #coronavirus scare, huge crowds gathering in NYC's Chinatown for ceremony ahead of annual #LunarNewYear parade. Chants of "be strong Wuhan!"

It could be that the weather in NY is more conducive to the virus, or NY could be testing a lot more.

Here, we know there have been cases but the testing hasn’t reached our county. In the state and town my GD lives they are able to test 3 a day, we are in the SW.

Well, we didn’t have New York City’s Health Commissioner telling people to go out in public and celebrate Chinese New Year in February when we all knew there was some sort of epidemic going on in China. That might have had something to do with it.

I am convinced there have been Cov-19 cases in California as early as January, and cases treated as flu related pneumonia and flu related severe bronchitis while missing (not testing) that the patients had Cov-19. I personally know of three such cases in California that we suspect but even today those three have not been able to obtain Cov-19 tests. They’d have to get sick again and maybe then they’d get a test - if they had to go to hospital, but no assurance they’d get one otherwise. They are, all three, doing O.K. now, but still suspicious.

Trump closed the door to China early - saving primarily the western United States. It took longer for him to close the door to Italy and Europe. That’s the difference. Chinese spreaders were stopped from spreading their filth to the United States.... (the virus is the filth...NOT innocent Chinese )
