Even if it comes to this, I would not expect these to become long-term practices.
But, IMO, if population centers became dispersed, and people lived in the hinterland and “went to work” over the Internet more and more, it would be a good thing. And I’d like to see government schools closed and more and more people “go to school” over the Internet.
Many of the standard reasons to gather lots of people into one building or one city no longer matter.

Gonna be tough to keep this hype up until election. Especially when the mortality rate does not match the hype in western countries.

CDC is not completely worthless but it is a federal bureaucracy. Therefore, they need to look busy.
That said, their response team ordered into action by the President are performing although I tend to think they are operating at a higher level because there’s a POTUS in office that is holding their directors accountable.

Teleschooling. Heh.
My wife works for one of the better districts in our state. I can assure you that NO district has a plan or the ability to hold ANY offsite classes.
As for teleconferencing? How many people that actually produce something besides paperwork can “phone it in” all day?

Better confiscate all the black rifles, too, just in case. We don’t want some greedy capitalists using firearms to take medicine from the government.

I’ve been retired for 6 years now. During my last year teaching the school came up with an internet program to cover instruction if school needed to be cancelled for several weeks.

Something good could come out of this—the first hint that we _can_ survive without expensive brick and mortar schools.
Are there issues to be overcome—absolutely.
The best way to figure out how to deal with them—is to practice dealing with them!

I hate to say it, but Trump is gonna need a coronavirus ‘czar’ soon to coordinate responses and stop agencies like CDC going to rogue and sending mixed or contradictory messages to public and corrupt media.

We went through a closing of everything in the polio epidemic in the 50’s. Not sure how deep the closings were, but in my area, it was just about everything but the grocery stores.
We didn’t have computers and not everyone had TVs.. and no cell phones.. Today everyone would panic without their conveniences.
God help our nation and Your people.
