Sen. Chris Murphy confirmed The Federalist’s reporting that he privately met with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif without State Department knowledge or approval in Munich last week.
After Mollie Hemingway first reported the meeting Monday, Murphy did not respond to any media inquiries. Tuesday, he published an account of his trip on Medium, sharing details of his meetings and describing his “mission” to meet with officials of Iran, which he described as “our adversary, responsible for the killing of thousands of Americans.”
Murphy also described his “goals” for meeting with Zarif, but admitted that he “cannot conduct diplomacy on behalf of the whole of the U.S. government, and I don’t pretend to be in a position to do so. But if Trump isn’t going to talk to Iran, then someone should.”

I think it would be useful to have the DOJ question him a nd let it be known that 302s were put on file for higher review by the US Attorney in DC. Then leak that intelligence services debriefed him.
If on tape and not under duress I would love to see trump directly order the marshals office to arrest him. Charge him with Logan violation.

Obama’s ridiculous “treaty” should never have happened. And it would never have passed the Senate if Obama ever even tried. But, he gave them what they wanted anyway.
So now, knowing he’s busted, Murphy calls them “our adversary”. That Iranian regime is responsible for countless deaths. They trained the Iraqi Shia militias. They even built the IED roadside bombs for them, and showed them how to do it themselves. 650 American troops killed, thousands injured - not to mention the civilians, and not just in Iraq. But Iraq was not the Iranian’s war, but they injected themselves. They should be treated like a wartime enemy.
And this excuse “someone needs to talk to them” is BS. Trump has consistently extended the olive branch. He’s just not caving into their demands and insisting on demands of his own - stop killing Americans, get out of Iraq, stop financing terror worldwide. These are not unreasonable. The Senators are being unreasonable.
