At about 4:40PM EST, I heard a WH spokesman, can’t recall the name, confirm Vindman’s departure back to the DOD as part of returning to the Condoleezza Rice-era staffing levels.
As for the brother, he said that it’s policy not to comment on such things, and that he had no info about that individual.

My question is about his twin brother who (as a civilian Federal employee) also works for the NSC at the White House. News reports say he is overseeing the review and hold on the publication of the John Bolton book. I haven't heard anything about him today. And I thought he was active duty as well. Army JAG.

I thought that may be the case.
The military is nothing and I mean nothing like the real everyday world you and I live in. What Vindmen did is way more than is needed to be court martialed. Jumping the chain of command is one of the biggest no-no’s in the military.
You should read what this guys Commander had to say about him. Trust me, this guys troubles are only beginning.
