Mayor Bill de Blasio is defending his policies in the face of skyrocketing crime in New York City.
It’s a dramatic example of why some New Yorkers say they don’t feel safe on the streets of New York City: one day last week, just before noon, a 28-year-old woman was stopped in her tracks by a man with a box cutter on West 51st Street in Hell’s Kitchen. He threatened to slash her, then reached into her jacket and grabbed her cell phone.
It’s no wonder why a neighbor, a mother of two young children, says she’s thinking of moving.
“I grew up here my whole life. It’s definitely changed. I do not feel safe anymore. Honestly, I felt safer in the ’80s,” she said. “I just feel like crime is up more. I mean they say it isn’t, but that’s BS.”
Actually, crime is up more. Robberies, like the cell phone snatch, are up nearly 39% — from 943 last January to 1,290 last month. Shootings are up nearly 29% from 52 to 67. Transit crime is up nearly 30%, and car theft is up 72%. Burglaries are up more than 20% and larceny is up nearly 11%.

I wonder how many of these victims voted for Deblasio. And how many will again.
My son is currently looking into grad schools, and there are a couple in NYC. But he is cool on the developing crime statistics and would rather be in Boston or perhaps L.A.
It’s too bad, because there is a lot of music in NYC.
Why can’t Democrats look back to Guiliani’s tenure? Wasn’t that when they cracked down on even little crimes, like jumping the subway entrances, and found more serious criminals?
How can the Democrats get away with these infractions upon common sense?!?!

It seems odd that CBS would be reporting this. It’s anti DeBlasio all the way.

So, what’s the solution? vote for more De Blah! and More of the same people in office! and More of the same programs!
Perhaps the NY Police should demonstrate what happens when a city goes full stupid liberal - by simply not showing up for a couple of weeks. We can laugh at Bloom*ss tap dance out of that - if he manages to get to work without getting mugged.
I feel sorry for the police there. The only one who respects them less than the criminals is the manor.

True, but consider that once a one-party political system is established, its hard to introduce other choices. And NYC effectively has only one party.

While they advocate for felon voting rights I don’t think criminals are that reliable. They are fellow brethren though.
They pretty much voted for a single party.

The legacy Media are the Democrats and the Democrats are the legacy Media.

Sure. But once that happens, its very difficult for a second party to gain traction, even if people become somewhat disillusioned with the dominant one.
Of course De Blasio defends his policies. After all, those policies protect his constitutes. They are the Criminal, Illegal Aliens, and Terrorists that he loves and support and that vote for him. He hates Law-abiding American Citizen in NYC as they will never vote for a POS like Him!!!!!!!!!!!
