I would not deliver the SOTU speech until after.
GOPe did this on purpose. Trump should get to do the SOTU without this over his head. They should have gone through the weekend to make sure that happened!

So what did this buy you weak kneed Senate Republicans demanding a long drawn out trial to appease Dems?
We should start a betting pool for the number of new “witnesses” who will come forward between now and the vote.
This is the usual weak-kneed, ball-less, shameful behavior we expect from the dimbulbs in the GOP Senate. That the President should have to run the gauntlet to give his State of the Union Address is unforgiveable.
I believe President Trump will find a way to make this SOTU speech even— maybe even because of— the circumstances brilliant and one for the ages. The fact that he is sure to be acquitted and exonerated the very next day will make it even more heroic and epic. You just know he has a plan and will rise to the occasion as all great statesmen do.
