MATT DRUDGE, who rose to stardom when he broke the Monica Lewinsky story around the last presidential impeachment, still runs the news aggregation site that bears his name during this one. And he’s still one of the most influential people in the media.
The now-52-year-old Drudge and a skeleton staff effectively invented clickbait. They still present lines of juicy, but context-less text, aggregated from around the web, in a typewriter font: “STUDY: Farmers have most sex…” “Interior minister warns of repeat of migrant influx into EU…” “HILLARY 2020? ‘DON’T TEMPT ME’…”

I guess it’s time for another round of pondering that one big question. We went through this a few weeks ago, near Thanksgiving. Sometimes there is no single clear answer, and Matt may feel that the public does not have The Need To Know.
He did it, because he could.
Why did Matt Drudge turn on Donald Trump?
Matt is gay, and 99.9999999999% of gays hate President Trump and his Deplorable voters. So, they lie and create bs 24/7 to drive voters away from our President.

It was reported late last year that the Drudge Report was SOLD, but it was not well reported, probably on purpose.
Sad as that was the go to place for real news for a long time. This too passed.
And not one word about why Drudge has seemingly gone anti-Trump in the last year.......this is about the equivalent of lighting a bag of dog crap on soneone’s porch on Halloween, ringing the doorbell and running. Then telling the neighbor a month later and they say, “Oh, that was you? I did that when I was a kid once.”

The rumors floating are that Matt sold his site. It was a cash cow for him I’m sure, but more than that an influential platform so it’s possible he was given a massive over-valued offer to sell out to someone who wanted to own that influence. Maybe he’s grown tired of running it after 25 years and wants to do something else - or nothing at all, retire. There’s definitely been a noticeable shift in tone.

Easy. He didn’t want to be in the “deplorable rube” basket.
Freerepublic is the best news aggregator bar none. It covers stories from the looney left to the alt right and every type of subject matter, and it is constantly updated.
Also it has some of the best commenters, that range from insightful, thoughtful, to funny, that elaborate on the articles and in many cases are better than the articles themselves.
I can’t say what’s in Drudge’s head. I just know that he is dead to me. I have not gone to his site in almost a year and will not be going there in the foreseeable future.
