Lindsey Graham will oppose subpoena of Hunter Biden
The Hill ^ | January 24, 2020 | ALEXANDER BOLTON

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says he will vote against a motion to subpoena Hunter Biden if a majority of colleagues agree next week that additional witnesses and documents need to be summoned for President Trump’s impeachment trial.

If Republican colleagues introduce a motion to subpoena former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Graham said “I vote against it.”

Graham’s opposition essentially kills the threat that Republicans have wielded in recent weeks that if Democrats win a motion to hear from additional witnesses such as former national security adviser John Bolton and acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, they will retaliate by subpoenaing the Bidens.

Republican lawmakers such as Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and John Kennedy (R-La.) have threatened to weaponize the debate over witnesses by forcing the Bidens into the impeachment spotlight.

Paul has argued that Trump’s defense team should be allowed to call whatever witnesses they want.

“The president gets to call anybody he thinks would be good for his defense, the prosecution can call who they want, but I don’t think we should selectively call witnesses that don't like the president,” Paul said last week.

Kennedy argued that Trump’s lawyers would likely want to cross-examine the Bidens.

“I feel pretty confident, though I don’t know it for a fact, that the defense team is going to want to call its witnesses, including but not limited to the Bidens, [and] as a fact witness the whistleblower,” he said.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has also opened the door to subpoenaing Hunter Biden.

“When you get to that issue, I can’t imagine that only the witnesses that our Democratic colleagues would want to call would be called,” he said.

You do understand that once this is dismissed in the senate that the President can direct HIS DOJ to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate no?

You do understand Graham has had 3 months to issue subpoenas? Has he? Has he held a single hearing on this CIA backed executive branch coupist op?

It IS NOT the Senates place to do the job that the House was supposed to do.

Got that?

I see. What is the Senate’s job? Blocking Trump’s DNI pick? His Fed picks? The do-nothing GOP Senate sure did a good job at that. Wouldn’t you agree?

Are you suggesting the United States Senate has no oversight role over the executive branch? Interesting theory.

IT IS THE JOB of those who bring the articles of impeachment to investigate and write them. IT IS THE JOB, of the Senate to sit AS THE JURY to hear the EVIDENCE BROUGHT by those who wrote those articles...being the House of Reps, whose sole responsibility is to Impeach, and the Senate to convict.

We are NOT talking about what oversight the congress has over the executive branch at normal proceedings so quit trying to side step the issue.

THIS IS AN IMPEACHMENT TRIAL. And a Effin sick one at that.

The Stalinist impeachment trial is a political battle no different than many others the past 3 years. The outcome is not in doubt. Trump will be acquitted.

What’s important now is shaping the battlefield for 2020. That is all. Right now the Democrats have a free hand to abuse POTUS and his supporters at their leisure. As always the GOP is AWOL. POTUS is riding solo here.

Lindsey Graham says the Bidens need to be investigated by the Judiciary Committee after the impeachment case is over, but he will never do it. Joe Biden is part of “the club”.

POTUS is riding solo here.

And we do not count? Get everyone off their ass and quit complaining and get to the phones. Go to the local meetings, get down and meet with your local congressional reps and lay into them.

I did. Got right smack into Sinema’s representatives face and laid into them. That is why they have doubts about her vote.

When I mean everyone, I MEAN EVERYONE.

In my opinion, he had to wait until the impeachment BS is over. The best way to screw up is to divert your attention. I suspect it will lead to a special prosecutor being appointed to investigate Biden and Obama (and others) for the corruption that has occured there, due to the political nature of the participants. I guess we will see how it will proceed when “All the President’s Men” present their case in the next week. I hope they make the case that it was the President’s duty to investigare corruption, just as Schiff stated in April, 2019: www.breitbart.com/the-media/2020/01/24/adam-schiff-april-2019-obama-had-a-duty-to-investigate-candidate-trump/ perhaps they will show the video of Biden bragging about extorting the Ukrainian Prosecutor, etc. As far as Graham’s followup with Kavanaugh, you are right. However, the focus on the article was to hook in those who are still pissed off and distrust Graham. Judging by the comments in this thread, they have succeeded.

This must have been his BIG ANNOUNCEMENT he said he would give yesterday. He is covering up for the Bidens. He neeeds to be challenged and investigated.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the third day of the Senate impeachment trial, Graham noted the managers "must have said 50 times" that "the Biden conflict of interest allegations have been debunked and there is no scintilla of evidence in terms of conflict of interest and wrongdoing."

However, directing his remarks to the reporters, he said "nobody, particularly in your business, has done much looking at when happened with Hunter Biden."

"You're going to hear much more about that, and I'll tell you tomorrow," he said
