Rand Paul: 45 Republicans Prepared to Dismiss Charges Against President
Breitbart ^ | 1/22/2020 | Hannah bleau

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Wednesday that 45 GOP senators are prepared to dismiss the charges against President Trump and effectively end the Senate impeachment trial.

The Kentucky senator told the Washington Post on day two of the Senate impeachment trial that 45 Republicans are ready to dismiss the charges against Trump. (Republicans hold a 53-47 majority in the upper chamber.) He estimated that “five to eight” want to “hear a little more.”

“There are 45, with about five to eight wanting to hear a little more,” Paul told the Post. “I still would like to dismiss it, but there aren’t the votes to do it just yet.”

However, Paul said he is not pushing the point just yet.

“I will push it at some point,” he told the paper, adding, “The more Adam Schiff speaks, the more we become unified.”

Paul has openly rejected the Democrats’ calls for additional witnesses and has issued a political threat to his GOP colleagues, in the event they side with Democrats.

“If you vote against Hunter Biden, you’re voting to lose your election, basically. Seriously. That’s what it is,” Paul said, according to Politico. He continued:

If you don’t want to vote and you think you’re going to have to vote against Hunter Biden, you should just vote against witnesses, period. My first preference would be to be done with it as soon as possible and not to have any witnesses.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told reporters on Wednesday that a witness trade is “off the table,” but Paul affirmed that he does not believe the Senate should call former national security adviser John Bolton as a witness, referring to him as “a disgruntled employee with an ax to grind.”

McConnell, for whatever reason, has become a man of the people since 2016. He deserves reelection if this gets defeated.

Another day or so of Adam Schiff-for-brains and his little buddy Gerald Nad-less pontificating could be the "little more" at least 6 of them need to join the other 45 to stop this sham in time for the weekend.

Look for the polls in the next day or two to see which way some Senators will go. I'm guessing that the base is furious at the TV time that Schiff and the democrats have gotten over the last two days. I'm also guessing that the general public is pissed that the they're blathering on about the same old crap they've been blathering about for 3 years.

' If polls come out showing impeachment support dropping they will acquit and fast.

The rumor mill is buzzing about 21 missing Republicans once Schiffty started speaking. They aren't allowed earplugs in there?

Earplugs are fine but send them the airplane barf bags--- on the double, Senate pages.

I wouldn’t expect a dismissal vote until after the Trump team has made its opening statement, and the Senators have had their questions answered. It would be great if it happens sooner, but I don’t expect it. My feeling is that those last 5-8 senators think that is the fair thing to do.

One of them is, no doubt, Mitt “Never Trumper” Romney!

***this is all about the commies knowing they cant beat Trump in November***

Perhaps the only “five to eight” in the country that want to “hear a little more.” :^)

I think Rush made an excellent point today: He said the Dems have snookered the Senate into allowing them to kick off their 2020 election campaign in the Republican Senate chamber. On the second day of the trial only MSNBC and CNN were doing continuous coverage, as far as I could see. This is a big political circus full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. The world has moved on to such things as GDP, fair trade, drug prices, spreading of Chinese diseases ... etc.

I want to know the names of the 8 GOP Senators that are unwilling to
vote for dismissal. I already know a few of the names. Who are the rest?

How many needed to dismiss?

51 votes (50 with the VP breaking a tie).

Question...can the VP cast a tie breaking vote in that case, or is that out in a senate trial?

Apparently they don’t realize if they remove Trump, they’ll reap the whirlwind.

. We just need 6 more GOP Senators to see it and do the right thing.

Never trust a Republican.
