I work with union people at my job and when they get to talking politics, I share that cheap, illegal alien labor is harming them. The more competition for jobs, the better they prosper. Granted, higher wages will drive automation. Just look at cities who have dictated higher wages. Places like McDonald’s no longer have someone taking their orders.
