Maryland Governor Larry Hogan repeatedly steered state transportation development money to projects that would increase the value of his real estate holdings, according to a lengthy investigation by Washington Monthly’s Eric Cortellessa.
Cortellessa reports that Hogan, who ostensibly left his brother in charge of his real estate brokerage firm when he was elected, has, in fact, maintained ownership and control while serving as governor; the trustees he handpicked to run his company have continued to keep him apprised of its business dealings. And as governor, he has advanced highway and road construction projects that directly boosted the value of land owned by his company.
Those efforts have proved extraordinarily lucrative: During his first three years in office, Hogan reported $2.4 million in income, more than four times his salary. No other governor in the history of the state has made as much, according to Maryland’s former Secretary of State John Willis. Hogan, he told Washington Monthly, is the only governor in the history of Maryland “to have made millions of dollars while in office.”
Larry Hogan is a Republican governor of a solidly Democratic state. He is also, according to one survey, the single most popular governor in the country. In a state where only 37 percent of likely voters approve of Donald Trump, 73 percent of Democrats approve of Hogan.

It’s “New Republic” which is as lefty as you can go and the Governor is a Republican so take with a grain of salt.
Oh my does that mean he alone profited from road developments ?

I have some serious problems with Hogan. None of them have anything to do with corruption. I trust he will sue the NR for every penny they can lay their grubby hands on. This is smear filth.

Is there any proof of the accusations?! Hogan is very popular in Maryland, especially when you consider he’s a Republican in a deep, deep blue state.

Hogan is excellent on fiscal issues
squishy on social issues and horrible on supporting the conservatives who assured his election, especially 2nd Amendment.

Wow, that is a classic case of libel without providing any evidence. For a public figure it is hard to win such case and they have to prove actual malice but I don’t think that would be hard.
He is an extreme never Trumper, saying several times that he did NOT vote for Trump. He was a very successful businessman before becoming governor but takes credit for Maryland’s improved employment numbers, etc when they are due to Trump’s policies, not to any new Maryland laws or decreased regulations. Maryland has the nation’s highest median income due to the many people who work for the federal government or its contractors. If Maryland were not located next to DC, its anti-business policies would have its economy among the worst in the nation. He has been a big disappointment to me.

Reading through the original article in a very commie magazine, and this one shows me that the libs see a lot of stuff that isn’t there. The New Republic goes as far as to call Hogan a racist because he cancelled a rail line through Baltimore. There’s already a commuter rail through Baltimore that loses tons of money and is dangerous to ride at times.

Yes, Hogan is very popular with the Democrats in Maryland - conservatives not so much. Had his opponent been other than Ben Jealous he would not have won reelection (in my opinion). He has been critical of Trump since before the election. Loves to brag that his father was the first Republican congressman to turn against Nixon.

Check Nancy Pelosi and her crooked husband re Cal. surplus US Post Office buildings years ago. The same for Marxist Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s husband, and Diane Feinstein’s crooked family. And the list goes on.
