The article itself doesn’t quote any “intelligence sources” and they don’t “reveal” anything. They have one line by an analyst speculating just like the rest of us that Iran missed on purpose.
This is a textbook example of a clickbait headline, worse than the DailyMail average. The headline seems to confirm what everyone already thinks, so people click on it, but then the article is just what you already know.
The original of this strategy is Joseph McCarthy’s claim that “I have here in my hand a list of 205—a list of names that were made known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party and who nevertheless are still working and shaping policy in the State Department.”
In fact everyone already knew the State Department was infested with communists, and in fact there were more than 205 of them. But the supposed statement (note there is no actual recording of him saying this) went “viral” because it seemed to confirm what everyone basically already knew.
Now that is what I call MAGA!!! For the first time since November 4, 1979 Iran actually fears the US.

Looks like some people on this side of Iran are whistling in the dark and trying to pave the way with noise to push a policy change towards more appeasement. Well, that’s not going to happen.
The Mooseslums will bloviate but rarely take action that is effective when there are eyes on them. They wait till things are calmed down and we are starting to relax. Their ability to actually wage war with a well trained military is marginal at best so they have to rely on terror tactics.

Additionally, it was a good use of old missiles whose expiration dates have passed and they wanted to get rid of anyway. I hear that saber rattling is a popular pastime in those countries.
