Pompeo to FNC’s Wallace: ‘Endless Wars Are the Direct Result of Weakness’ — ‘Trump Will Never Let That Happen’
Breitbart ^ | 5 Jan 2020 | Pam Key

Posted on 01/05/2020 11:23:37 AM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” anchor Chris Wallace asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo if the airstrike that killed Qasem Soleimani was a “big step back’ in President Donald Trump’s commitment to stop endless wars.

Wallace asked, “Is the president pulling us out of endless wars in the Middle East, or with his action this week, did he take a big step back in?”

Pompeo said, “Endless wars are the direct result of weakness, and President Trump will never let that happen. We are going to get our facilities as hardened as we can possibly get them to defend against what Iran may potentially do, but make no mistake, America’s mission is to have our footprint in the Middle East reduced while still keeping America safe. Safe from rogue regimes like the Islamic Republic of Iran and from terrorist activity broadly throughout the region.”

Wallace asked. “So is it fair to say that while the big strategy is to pull the U.S. out of endless wars, at least in the short term, there could be more of a commitment?”

Pompeo said, “The Obama Administration created an enormous risk to the American people in Iran. This administration is working to reduce that risk.”

>This was a major mistake for the President. The deep state is...blah blah blah.

He should have taken the Benghazi route to spare the weak stomachs of the people that were all balls to the walls slamming Hillary for doing the opposite, right?

President Trump and Secretary Pompeo know how to deal with bullies which is all the Iranian leadership is. The truth is they are cowards when an faced with a capable opposition. These bully leaders can “give it” but can’t “take it” when someone metes out an appropriate response to their bullying tactics.

I think the Iranian leadership is actually in shock someone called their bluff and pushed back hard and decisively. Bullies always are.

No iran won’t go to war but they will continue to provoke us into a response. If any Americans are killed in the back and forth the leftists media will make it look like Trump started it. Impeachment is not working so they convinced him to engage in military action. Right or wrong using military force is a vote loser in almost every case. No matter what happens if we keep trading punches the blame will end up on the President. This could jeopardize his second term which is the goal of his deep state advisors in pushing the President into this action. This sub human has been around for a long time. Ask yourselves, why now? What was so important that this guy had to be taken out now? The answer is going to be because impeachment wasn’t working.

I’m not so sure about this.

Depend on what actually transpires.

No longer listen to Wallace and cannot even tolerate seeing him on any TV show...

Jesse Watters would be a nice replacement...

Not every important decision has to be made based on politics.

This guy needed killin’ and he got it.

Agreed. I suspect Trump will only intercept/respond to actual aggression or attack just enough to ensure US security. If Iran should launch an offensive, it becomes all defense from there and most voters will not blame him or expect surrender at that point.

Too bad he wasn't President when Iranian citizens rose up a decade ago. Maybe they'll sense a window of opportunity now.

He just can’t help himself, can he? He’ll keep asking the same question in a different way until he gets what he wants. You are right - he is insufferable...becoming more so in the past 3 1/2 years!

“”Pompeo takes no guff, is smart, and he’s a fighter.””

He was great as a U. S. Representative also...probably at his best when on the House Select Committee on Benghazi. That was the first I became aware of him.

First in his class at West Point!!!!!!
