Pope Francis has lashed out at a worshipper in an attempt to free his arm from her grip during a visit to a Nativity scene in St Peter's Square.
He delighted tourists on New Year's Eve when he took a stroll through the Square, but he was taken by surprise as he was dragged back by a woman eager to hold his hand.
Francis exclaimed and then struck the woman's hand twice to free himself.

Wow is an understatement. She was Chinese and I guess was appealing to him on behalf of the Chinese Christians (whom he has betrayed). He called her a bruja in Spanish, which he normally doesn’t speak in public. Bruja literally means witch but in spoken Spanish, it means [b]itch.

Not a good look for any Pope, but I get why he wanted her to let go.
The bigger question is where was his security? I thought there would always be a bubble of separation from the Pope and the public. Somebody was not in the right place.
She could have been someone waiting to harm him.

There is much to admire in Roman Catholicism, but there is a weakness, and Francis is the instructional video for that weakness in our time.
