Ambassador and staff evacuated as Iraq protesters attack US embassy (in Iraq)
The Independent (UK) | December 31 | Borzou Daragahi

US embassy staff and the US ambassador in Baghdad have been evacuated, according to two unnamed Iraqi Foreign Ministry officials cited by Reuters, as hundreds of Iraqi protesters swam the embassy compound.

Iraqi supporters of a powerful Iranian-backed militia were attacking the outside of the fortified zone that surrounds the US embassy compound in Baghdad, protesting against American air strikes that killed 25 fighters from the group, news agencies reported.

The Iranians attacked a US base that wasn’t even doing anything to them. I don’t think Trump wants to go to war - he prefers to negotiate through trade and sanctions (most of them undermined by Bambi in the case of Iran) - but we can’t let their attack go unanswered.

When Trump took a few dozen troops out of Afghanistan a few weeks ago, FR went mad with people saying he was surrendering. So he can’t win, especially with FReepers.

Only if we arm the Christians, and bomb the rest.

Paint red, black, blue, and green crosses on the tanks, and leave.

Within DRB—Deployment Ready Brigade—3 rifle battalions have alert sequence: 18 hours, 36 hours and 54 hours for the third. The entire brigade has 96-hour alert window to deploy.

“”””We should have used low-yield theater nukes on Bagdad, Tehran, Islamabad, Kabul, Mecca, and Medina on 9/12/01.””””

LOL. Why low-yield? And I find it hilarious that you included Mecca and Medina but excluded Riyadh? Just why?
Also what Baghdad, Tehran and Kabul has to do with 9/11?

The current situation in the Middle East is a product of foreign meddling messing with a somehow workable balance of powers.

First it was Carter’s meddling in Iran resulting in a friendly country turning into a toxic anti-American failed state. Then it was meddling in Afghanistan countering a stabilizing Soviet influence just for the sake of it. All the modern jihadism is rooting from the Afghan war ideologically and the ideology is developed in Washington, DC by Zbig Brzezinsky. I’d say modern jihadi propaganda against US is not simply similiar to Brzezinsky’s anti-Soviet propaganda but in fact identical. They simply replaced “socialsm” with “democracy” as a value they are fighting against and Russia with USA. Then there was a first Gulf War. Only an idiot couldn’t see it will result in growing Iranian influence. Then the illegal second war and failed Arab Spring.

Nobody in the Middle East likes the United States. I have no idea why anyone is surprised with current development in Iraq. How many people are killed there between two wars and ongoing occupation?

And by the way now Iran is a stabilizing influence. Who killed more ISIS Iran or US?

Is anyone ready for a new order in case if Iran undergoes Iraq’s treatment?

Any moron who thinks the mullahcracy of Iran is a stabilizing influence in the middle east is a MORON and can kiss MY ASS.

“Also what Baghdad, Tehran and Kabul has to do with 9/11?”

Is that how Norse Achmed speaks?

THEY ALL TRAINED the scumbags who attacked us on 9/11. They are all hotbeds of islamic jihadism, which is a cancer and needs to be treated with radiation, so you’re right, lets skip the low yield and just clean house.

Oh and add Riyadh to the list. and lets add ALL OF IRAN.

Your politics is Bullshit. GFY.

Okay, I understand your point of view. And it seems like you share it with the Dept of State. No wonder why the foreign policy is such a disaster. The funny thing is you’d get it in five years but won’t remember this conversation and more importantly this situation won’t produce any lesson and you will still have the same approach for new situation which will be in fact identical to the present with maybe another players and geography. That’s 50 years of unmitigated disaster in the Middle East in a nutshell.
