I never, till now, found it very PC, but something interesting happened in Episode four. I believe it was unintentional but it directly attacked the cancel culture. The students were studying Merchant of Venice with the teacher giving all the anti semitic tropes. A girl then asks about this statement by Shylock, “ If my finger be pricked, does it not bleed like yours?” The girl asks if Shakespeare is saying Jews are human and if he is, his works should not be studied. The teacher, stunned, quietly agrees and they move on to a Math lesson. There can be no clearer indictment of the cancel culture, even if it was unintended.
Did you read Newt Gingrichs three volume alt history of the Civil War? It was very good until Newt even succumbed and allowed a black regiment to save the union. Newts alt WWII book, 1945, is fantastic.
I just now remember both! Seem like I read those ages ago at this point.
I recall 1945 ended a abrupt and dark for me, though.
I don’t think I got past 30 min. in the 1st episode of the 1st season before some of the usual pc bullshit sent me packing. Some 40 years after I started consciously noticing PC in stories I have ZERO tolorance for it. I can no longer ignore the stupidity AT ALL.
I was struck by the similarities between the American Reich schools and modern American curriculum. There were even Antifa type mobs in the street that Himmler (like American big city mayors) encouraged.
So far, it sinks. Ill watch to finish out the series. I will comment that the wall at the Reich zone was exactly what we need on the southern border!
tried watching it. I watched 1 episode of season one. The whole thing to me seemed to be taking a stab at conservatives. Look what happens when you let the Nazi Right Republican party get too much power, that kind of thing..
unwatchable. cool premise...but unwatchable. It reminded me of how that show West Wing, made their subtle and not so subtle messaging.
The first episode felt twice as long as it was. Once the hipster black communists showed up shucking and jiving, it was my cue to shut it off. It won’t be missed.
Yeah, kind of wondered if anyone else noticed the turn it took. Then again, we’re supposedly in the 1966 time frame (?) so perhaps this is akin to the black panthers movement? It also seems disjointed to us. We only have two episodes left to watch so........
“In his most intense LSD induced visions Dick would have never imagined such a ridiculous ending.”
Which is? What is the ending? What happens?
First season was great because it allowed good folks, re: Americans to enjoy the fight against totalitarianism.
Then the first season couldn’t be duplicated. The main character Julianna is somewhat one dimensional and frankly kinda boring.
But this garbage making the San Fran communists heroes who drive out the Japanese from the West Coast in a one-time series of bombings was utterly ridiculous.
Did I mention how they made the communists heroes?
Hollyweird is the enemy of America.
It went off the rails in season 3. Another case of what happens when there’s more show than original material to adapt. I’m looking at you, Bennioff and Wiess.
See post 7
I haven’t watched this series yet, so if this is an inadvertent spoiler, then it proves that truth is stranger than satire.
I’m surprised they weren’t able to create the alt-reality Fred Trump and treat him like a Nazi butt kisser, and show his son “Donny” in a very prolific Nazi uniform. If this wasn’t in the plot, then someone is missing the woke memo.
The last two episodes are about as deep as a Blacula movie.
S3 E1? Is that where the two male homosexuals started kissing? That’s when I quit watching. I guess I’m not woke enough.
Hey, I liked those Blacula flix. Best line is from a street hustler ,” Man, that brother is just one strange dude.”
Season 1 was good.
Season 2 OK.
Season 3 a dud.
Probably not gonna watch 4.
