According to these observations, the universe is 41 times more likely to be closed than flat...

Round or Flat implies a 3 dimensional reality. Most of us humans are limited to a 3 or 4 dimension reality. It is very possible that the dimensions of the universe are many more than 3 or 4. The problem is with our limited brains and our cultural biases.

I like a big, round universe, I cannot lie.

We just can't see it from our perspective.
Nor can we see the looming danger.

I can’t wrap my mind around these concepts about the shape of the universe. The way I perceive things, a shape is a function of form. How does one have form within a void?

That pretty much sums up my feelings as well. Its a curiosity not worth spending any money on. But Im sure people have gotten grants to study even more unimportant things.

Of course panic, haven’t you been paying attention? When in doubt, panic.

Well, that depends upon whether its being observed...

Even as a layman I am very confident that the universe is spherical because at smaller scales all explosions radiate out in all directions if there are no impediments in the way like walls, floors, etc.
Who knows, ‘dark matter’ may be the remnants of an older universe where matter has decayed to just mass and our universe came to being within it. Also, there could have been other big bangs within our own universe that we cannot see because the light/radiation hasn’t reached us yet.

Actually, I always thought this was the case? Who claimed it was flat? If the big bang is true, how could it be a shaped charge explosion with nothing to shape this explosion? It would have to be like all other unrestricted explosions and go in all directions wouldn’t it?
