Yeah. You go ahead and worry about that...
I love my Glocks, but they are not for the rookie. Those who take gun advice from strangers should probably get a SIG, any 1911, or some other model where the safety is not on the trigger.
QED
The Marlin is a sweet shooter, definitely. I dressed mine up in an older stock from a Model 989M2 - looks like an M1 Carbine. The toughest part of the swap was opening up a slot for the bolt release lever - quick work with a Dremel.
I agree the Brownings are fine pistols. Still there are several Glocks, several Sigs and a couple of CZs I would like to have.
Just nostalgia but I sure wish I still had the Colt 1911, I bought at Gibson’s in 1968. It was a beautiful pistol.
I shouldn’t even go down that road. A flood of great pistols and revolvers that I wish I still had.
I restocked mine from Boyd’s. If there’s a better squirrel rifle, I’ve not seen it.
A Colt HBAR with the .22 conversion bolt and mag would cover both 4 & 5 on your list.
Everybody on this board has been identified.
FBI paid me a visit 5 years ago based on a train post.
Thanks. A 686+ is a little heavy, but I shoot it well and 7 rounds of 357 in a controllable gun ought to be enough. The only holsters I have for it are cheap ones that aren’t up to the job.
I hear the stories of guns that got away every day at work.
Agree on the CZs, I have a compact 75 that fits my hand like it was made for me.
The Sig 365 is just about the best thing going for concealed carry today.
Lol...
The shotgun and the 10/22 are good. You can keep the handguns. Never liked them, even when I had to carry one in combat.
I’ll take a nice 30-30 lever action instead.
The sound of a 12-gauge shotgun racking also gives away one's position. Just sayin'.
FTR, I own a Remington 870 Express and I *highly* recommend every homeowner have one, along with a good sidearm (Glock 19 mentioned in the article is a good choice, though I'm an HnK bigot so all my sidearms are from them.)
I taught my two sons to shoot with a .22 rifle which they easily got comfortable and quite good with. Taught them to hunt with my .308 Remington 700 and how to field dress, clean, skin and butcher a deer.
Nothing says "reach out and touch someone" like a .308
Been through that on other boards before I ever came here. While everyone makes the suggestion “if you got nothing to hide, and it’s legal, then why be a chicken?”
Well, it might not be now, but one year from now it might be something that you probably should have not shared because what once was legal is now no longer legal.
Once it’s out there and published you can’t take it back.
It is just not prudent to offer anymore information than necessary. It’s a different world out there now. I do remember when this was not the case.
I was just thinking to myself. What would I do if I heard someone breaking down my door. I had always just assumed I would grab the short barreled pump.
You know what? It would be one of the Brownings. Just so much easier to handle. If I were 50 years younger it probably would be the pump.
Other than a plastic frame I cant think of anything more modern than a Browning Hi-Power
The way the Hi-Power naturally points and shoots is legendary
A Glock may be lighter but the Hi-Power has never felt heavy in my hand and those extra ounces reduce felt recoil. .
Fair Enough.
I’m willing to go away when they come for my guns.
Do what you like. We are coming to a time when common sense needs to prevail. Is it right? Absolutely not. But it is what it is and it’s going to be awhile before we get it back.
Your not getting nothing back if you run from your government.
Since this thread is about home defense I might recommend a lever action in 44 Magnum instead.
Which is still a very nice deer rifle I might add.
