US Airstrikes Destroy Ammo Left Behind in Syria

Two U.S. fighter jets launched airstrikes Wednesday to destroy ammunition that was left behind when American forces left a cement factory south of Kobani, Syria. The factory had served as a coordination center for the U.S.-led coalition and Kurdish forces in the fight against the Islamic State group. U.S. Army Col. Myles Caggins, a spokesman for the coalition, says the F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet strikes were pre-planned and destroyed ammunition stored at the Lafarge Cement Factory. He says all coalition personnel and "essential tactical equipment" had left the base before the strike. Most of the 1,000 U.S. forces in Syria are being withdrawn over the coming days and weeks because of the Turkish invasion into northern Syria and the attack on Kurdish forces.

Still all part of the plan, right?

That actually not only makes sense, but sends a message regarding our intel in the area and our future plans.

At last we did something right. Under O, we left tons of equipment behind in Iraq, which ended up in the wrong hands (ISIS as well as others).

Always wondered if that wasn’t intentional...

I’m old enough to remember the promises and escalation in Vietnam. For the first time in my life a president promised victory, delivered victory and came home. Our commitment is now over. Being energy independent gives Trump all the leeway he’ll ever need.

So the army left in such haste that they didn’t have time to set a few demolition charges? Wow! That’s some bug-out.

I agree with you. Seemed intentional.

This time no equipment left behind and we eliminated munitions. Makes a heck of a lot more sense than the “French Way” of dropping your gun and letting it fall into enemy hands.

The Kurds are mercenaries. Whomever’s payroll they end up on next will have to furnish equipment and munitions.

Remember when we lost the F117 in Somalia? It was brought down largely intact, and SOP for our forces was to bomb the crash site. But by the time we got “permission” from the UN to launch the bombing sortie, the site had been picked clean by the enemy.

I was active duty AF at the time, Travis AFB, and they had a transient F117 in one of the hangers, cordoned off, under armed guard. Even as a mechanic working the flight line I wasn’t allowed within 100 feet of it.

“ That’s some bug-out.”

Why do that when the F15s can go in from far off?

Maybe someone needed flight hours (not likely) or it was used for training purposes (possible). Would make sense to blow up in place if it costs more to haul it out than replace it. But from the air? I’m guessing training.

LaFarge cement factory? Would any U.S. elected officials and/or their relatives be on that multi-national’s payroll? That would certainly explain the knee jerk reactions to Trump’s push to get us out of Syria.

Maybe all those escaped ISIS prisoners just happened to be shopping at the abandoned ammo dump when the bombs were dropped.

From Wikipedia:

Terrorist financing

In June 2016 France opened an inquiry into the Syrian activities of the construction. The inquiry followed reports by French journalist Dorothée Myriam Kellou, published by Le Monde and FRANCE 24, which uncovered the deals Lafarge made with an array of armed groups, including the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorist group, in order to keep the cement plant operating. ISIL had captured the plant on 19 September 2014.[28] In 2017 the LafargeHolcim executives were investigated for these claims in the civil and criminal courts.[29][30]

You may be onto something.

Just wait, they’ll find a dead infant to parade around as a victim of this strike. Heck, they may even pull a photo from the internet of any time and place, as long as the background is rubble and the people look vaguely Kurdish or Syrian.
