Why should a congratulatory call to a newly elected leader ALL be related to “substance related to national security”?

It was a CONGRATULATORY CALL, not a national security meeting. Supposed they talked about golf, or their grand kids, those things are not allowed?

Good post, particularly your observation that the claims that Trump was looking into Biden only as a political rival was a "subjective assumption," and a politically-motivated one.

From the context of Trump's statement, it is clear to me that he was looking BACK at the 2016 election to determine the origins of the Russia-collusion hoax. Looking BACK to the 2016 election is exactly what the DEMOCRATS have been doing for three years; it is what Mueller was appointed to investigate, and both Mueller and the Democrats contacted foreign sources and urged foreign cooperation in their investigations. But when Trump wants to take a look at the same events, it is suddenly an impeachable offense.

Best guess: Democrat working in fed gov’t heard there was a conversation between POTUS and Zelensky, and made up all the rest. Deep state IC IG Maguire decided anything that would get the President should be “credible,” so he changed the rules to allow the garbage complaint.

There was a time when ordinary people.. even walter cronkite when on TV, told the truth.. lying was beneath them. So was disrespect and being rude.

Today, if the dems want to find someone who will trash Trump.. there is a line out there of willing haters. They will make up any type story you’d want.. just pay for their time. FROM THE MEMO: in the official’s view, the President had clearly committed a criminal act by urging a foreign power to investigate a U.S. person for the purposes of advancing his own reelection bid in 2020.

Well that’s HIS view.

What about this other view -— a possible corrupt act was perpetrated by a former Vice President that MUST BE INVESTIGATED and not doing so would be a dereliction of duty on the President’s part since he is sworn to uphold the law.

The fact that the U.S. person (Biden) was running for President is IMMATERIAL.

This “opinion” of the official is what makes for an impeachable offense?

Ever since Watergate, the biggest fantasy of a large number of journalists is to be the next Woodward/Bernstein, and to be a key player in bringing down a Republican president.

Similarly, in the Deep State there are many individuals who fantasize about being the next Deep Throat or John Dean, the "whistleblower" who heroically tells the truth about corruption and criminality in high places. That's why there is a never-ending supply of people willing to try to make something out of nothing.

So far, the only one who has been named as having been in the room with the President at the time of the call is SOS Pompeo. And since new documents show that the Ukraine had already reopened the Hunter Biden probe months before the President’s phone call, these so-called complaints are null and void.
