Around 30 years ago, I was standing near a bridge railing overlooking the Swannanoah gap. I was just above the tunnel admiring the beautiful view and the railroad way below.
As I was standing there I noticed a couple of boys on the track and it was a long way down. Then I noticed an official vehicle park maybe 100 yards from them, as far as they could go by car.
Two men got out carrying short barrelled shotguns. They eventually caught the boys and brought them back. I have no idea what was going on other than maybe trespassing.
Maybe he was doing the Popeye’s vs Chick-fil-A challenge and discovered it was “just a ... sandwich.” Sent him into a rage with enough smarts to attack the place with the back of his truck. Known to police but no police record means crazy rager.
