When I lived in Japan and traveled abroad on company business, they supplied an insurance policy which included medical expenses. If I was doing personal travel, I bought the same type of policy, less than $10 per day for the entire family.

You could buy these policies from the same travel agent who sold you the airline ticket or even at the departure airport.

The current law says that any immigrants should not be a “public charge,” that is they should not require benefits from the government. Trump is just enforcing that law. It needs to apply to ALL forms of government assistance. The USA is already deeply in debt and has already over-promised to its citizens. Giving free healthcare, education and other public assistance to illegal immigrants will, in the end, keep the government from fulfilling its promises to its citizens that it has already made.

When we emigrated to Spain we had to bring proof of medical insurance in order to start the residency process. If you are just visiting they don’t ask. The new Trump policy is for people wanting to stay.
