Beto Goes to Kent State, Argues Only the Government Can Be Trusted With Guns

Of all the places to argue that only the government should be trusted with guns, Beto O'Rourke picked
Kent State University.
Kent State is, of course, the location of the infamous 1970 shooting that left four students dead and nine others injured. The shots were fired not by private citizens but by members of the Ohio National Guard, who shot at a crowd protesting America's involvement in the Vietnam War.
Invoking armed agents of the state gunning down unarmed civilians is an interesting way to argue that Americans would be better off if the government forcefully disarmed private citizens. But hey, I guess that's why we keep being told Beto's an "unconventional" candidate.

I do not trust the government with guns. When they blast you into smithereens, they are not held accountable. The government doesn’t prosecute itself, and you cannot sue it without its permission. The Second Amendment does not guarantee government the right to have guns.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

In this case the government was correct. Should have been more of it in those years. Better examples where government was wrong was Ruby Ridge and Waco.

"Beto Goes to Kent State"
and the picture shows he attracted a YUGE crowd: almost two dozen ... btw, that's an awesome staged pic, what with the hay bale, pumpkins and little plant, plus of course the couple dozen professionally manufactured signs handed out before the pic ...

Question is, how were his words received by students? I hear they’re pretty clueless, themselves.
