HANOVER, N.H. — Joe Biden painted a vivid scene for the 400 people packed into a college meeting hall. A four-star general had asked the then-vice president to travel to Kunar province in Afghanistan, a dangerous foray into “godforsaken country” to recognize the remarkable heroism of a Navy captain.
Some told him it was too risky, but Biden said he brushed off their concerns. “We can lose a vice president,” he said. “We can’t lose many more of these kids. Not a joke.”
The Navy captain, Biden recalled Friday night, had rappelled down a 60-foot ravine under fire and retrieved the body of an American comrade, carrying him on his back. Now the general wanted Biden to pin a Silver Star on the American hero who, despite his bravery, felt like a failure.
“He said, ‘Sir, I don’t want the damn thing!’ ” Biden said, his jaw clenched and his voice rising to a shout. “’Do not pin it on me, Sir! Please, Sir. Do not do that! He died. He died!’ ”
The room was silent.
“This is the God’s truth,” Biden had said as he told the story. “My word as a Biden.”
Except almost every detail in the story appears to be incorrect.

And the Washington Compost is reporting this? They must really want Biden out of the race.
Nearly the same as the word of a Clinton.

But, 400 people there believe him.
A U.S. Navy Captain in ground combat? Not likely, even for a SEAL commander. This ain’t Star Trek with James Tiberius Kirk!
His mouth continually outs him as a liar.
My sources tell me that Biden originally thought he had given out the medal during WW I, somewhere in France. Fortunately for Biden, his handlers were able to convince him otherwise.
So Joe Biden has “Carried the Lords name in vain”.
What was a the scene in Patton when he tells Bradley that if he were promoted to Admiral in the Turkish Navy his aides would no doubt be able to retrieve the appropriate insignia from their bags and pin them on? I bet Biden’s aides had a carton of Silver Stars to hand out.
This all happened while he and Hillary were dodging sniper fire with John Kerry Deep in Cambodia.
Brian Williams witnessed the whole thing.
I think only in the case of Naval Gun Support would they send Navy shore fire control personnel. Had an older friend who was assigned this duty for awhile.
I remember in the VP debate Biden had against Sarah Palin, he spoke of stopping by a business in his old neighborhood during the campaign and speaking with the locals who told him blah, blah blah. A week later it came out that this place had gone out of business over a decade earlier.
Liars lie.
Maybe Biden should go work for Obama again, over at Netflix, he seems to have a dramatic flair for fiction...
