A Long Island plastic surgeon was caught with an enormous cache of weapons in his car — that included five fully loaded assault rifles, body armor and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, police said Wednesday.

Tuckahoe Police officers looking into a report that Matthew J. Bonanno, 47, had threatened his estranged wife arrested him Tuesday at a bar in the Westchester County town for allegedly illegally possessing a Glock semi-automatic handgun.

Bonanno, who practices in Lake Success, was arraigned Tuesday and remanded without bail on a slew of weapons charges. Investigators are still looking into how he obtained the massive amount of weapons.

He’s being held in the Westchester County Jail. His next court date is Aug. 20.

When they searched his BMW SUV, they found a staggering arms collection.

Inside the backseat and trunk were the assault rifles loaded with high-capacity magazines as well as: three handguns, 29 more high-capacity loaded magazines, a stun gun, handcuffs, full face masks, multiple military-style knives, four brass knuckles, pepper spray, scopes, binoculars and other paraphernalia, cops said.

Police then searched Bonanno’s home in the Town of Mount Pleasant, where they found three additional unlicensed handguns.

At the surgeon’s other house, in Great Neck, cops discovered another armory of assault rifles, a shotgun, handguns, high-capacity magazines, body armor, hundreds of rounds ammunition, smoke grenades and other weapons, which were turned over to Nassau Police.

Trust me, NY successfully prosecutes the weapons charges every damn day.

Do they ever get appealed?

It seems to me that these weapons laws are really just to give cops a handle on a suspect to grab.

But when a lawyer gets a hold of the case they drop the weapons charges, but keep any others..............

“Anybody recognize that Gen 3 Nightvision scope?
The “illegal handgun” charges are bogus, but this guy looks like he was a true threat. “

Nope. I’m just pissed that I can’t afford all of those toys.

They did it with straws.

I'd imagine that a surgeon would last as just long as a straw would.

Are they sure they were FULLY loaded? One in the chamber and the mag topped off? I kinda doubt it.

Can’t help you with the scope but perhaps you know about what appear to be magazines with a “Door” for loading rounds without ramming them down the throat of the mag?

Open mag door, press spring feed down and lock it, place rounds in line, close feed door and release spring feed?

If not I just invented it - open source. ;-)

After his ex wife allegedly claimed he threatened her....this won’t be an isolated incident if the red flag laws are instituted. Any woman with a beef will claim this about a man she doesn’t like.

I’m particularly concerned by the two assault lighters they felt compelled to include in the photo with the other paraphernalia.

Enormous? Not even close!

Stupid? While driving in a foreign country (NY), absolutely...

IAC, this has the appearence of a preview of how "red flag" laws will continue to expand... (For example, I just read that CT has confiscated thousands of guns under a "red flag" law over the past couple of years...)

Fully expect to see the same epidemic here in MD soon... So far MD has only killed a couple of people while "red flagging"...

Haha, I was going to say something similar. It’s a hobby folks, just a day at the range on a Saturday afternoon. SJWs just can’t seem to understand. As well as our God given right, it is just a lot of fun and people love to stock up on the latest and greatest, just like ski equipment, hiking gear, fishing gear. They automatically assume it is for nefarious purposes.
