A Long Island plastic surgeon was caught with an enormous cache of weapons in his car — that included five fully loaded assault rifles, body armor and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, police said Wednesday.

Tuckahoe Police officers looking into a report that Matthew J. Bonanno, 47, had threatened his estranged wife arrested him Tuesday at a bar in the Westchester County town for allegedly illegally possessing a Glock semi-automatic handgun.

Bonanno, who practices in Lake Success, was arraigned Tuesday and remanded without bail on a slew of weapons charges. Investigators are still looking into how he obtained the massive amount of weapons.

He’s being held in the Westchester County Jail. His next court date is Aug. 20.

When they searched his BMW SUV, they found a staggering arms collection.

Inside the backseat and trunk were the assault rifles loaded with high-capacity magazines as well as: three handguns, 29 more high-capacity loaded magazines, a stun gun, handcuffs, full face masks, multiple military-style knives, four brass knuckles, pepper spray, scopes, binoculars and other paraphernalia, cops said.

Police then searched Bonanno’s home in the Town of Mount Pleasant, where they found three additional unlicensed handguns.

At the surgeon’s other house, in Great Neck, cops discovered another armory of assault rifles, a shotgun, handguns, high-capacity magazines, body armor, hundreds of rounds ammunition, smoke grenades and other weapons, which were turned over to Nassau Police.

BREAKING/BOMBSHELL/EXPLOSIVE--- Fully loaded. Not half loaded, FULLY loaded. So, when will p-residential contestant from NY jellybrand address the problem of BMWs? And, guess there's a new daffynition of "enormous cache"? Just don't look in the back of Mrs rktman's Volvo. :-) I can see the push for even tighter intergalactic background checks in their little pea brains.

At least the surgeon wasn’t caching scalpels and other edged weapons.

I avoid fully loading my mags, 18 of 20 is good enough as long as you have enough mags:)

One of these days, a case like this should get to SCOTUS, and SCOTUS should just shrug and say, “Have you people read the Constitution? Shall not be infringed. We’re done here.”

Maybe the best comments to our “representatives” (and I use the word VERY loosely) is simply send them a copy of the definition of “infringed”. Of course some of them will be too dense to “get it”.

“cops discovered another armory”

They didn’t call it an arsenal?

There is still one literate reporter who knows the difference???

He must have travelled to America to buy them...

Estranged wife. Probably had the guns in the car so the wife would not sell them.

Anybody recognize that Gen 3 Nightvision scope?

The "illegal handgun" charges are bogus, but this guy looks like he was a true threat.

In a free state, he’d simply walk into a sporting goods store.

And this is the problem. People in these kind of states have nothing in common with the free states. Every day I can have a Glock pistol by my side. There, Glock pistols are illegal. This is infringement, it’s an affront to the Constitution, and I refuse to agree that these states are part of the United States. They are in rebellion, and they should be Federal tanks rolling on their capitals.

If his BMW was locked, could he claim it as a rolling “gun safe”?

It’s amazing how effective gun laws are.

Indeed, I think background checks would have prevented the Phila cop shooter from legally acquiring his weapons, uh, wait, what?
