Popular European teen climate activist bringing message to America

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teenager whose social media-savvy brand of eco-activism has inspired tens of thousands of students in Europe to skip classes and protest for faster action against climate change, said Monday that she plans to take her message to America the old-fashioned way: by boat.

The 16-year-old tweeted that she'll sail across the Atlantic aboard a high-tech racing yacht, leaving Britain next month to attend U.N. climate summits in New York in September and Santiago, Chile, in December.

Thunberg told The Associated Press ahead of her announcement that she spent months trying to figure out how to travel to the U.S. without using planes, which she has long shunned because of their high greenhouse gas emissions.

Cruise ships are also notoriously big polluters, while sailors rarely brave the Atlantic in August because of hurricane risks.

"Taking a boat to North America is basically impossible," she said in an interview during her weekly "Fridays for Future" protest outside the Swedish parliament in Stockholm. "I have had countless people helping me, trying to contact different boats."

Re: her hair... I guess since shampoo comes in a plastic container, I guess she doesn’t buy it...and shower? The water doesn’t belong to humans, so she doesn’t take them...

To be really green the bull should be make out of wood that naturally fell. If the hull is made from wood that was cut down, did the lumberjacks use a hand saw or a chain saw...if it is made out of man made materials, it isn’t green...Maybe she hired some slaves to row the boat if there’s no wind...

“The ship she plans to hop on is the Malizia II, a four-year-old racing sailboat pimped out with solar panels and underwater turbines to power the ship “

uh, NOT carbon-free: it took LOTS of carbon based materials and energy to make this contraption. Figure the number of people-miles/hour this thing is capable of and divide that into total cost and then compare that to the same metric for planes, trains, automobiles, or ships.

Teen climate change activist. What a joke.

The left LOVES to use kids as props to push their politics. Like clockwork, teachers will haul busloads of kids to the state capitol to 'make a (liberal) statement' on certain issues, AS IF THEIR 'OPINIONS' MATTERED. I mean, it's no accident the voting age isn't 16, or 14, or...

Like I always say, if I want a child's opinion, I'll give it to him!

The Bible warns about society making the Lord so mad that He allows it to be ruled by women and children.

More and more, that's one of my favorite verses.

And for sex and offerings.
