Trump forces 'staffing up' to end GOP losing streak in Minnesota
STAR TRIBUNE ^ | July 14, 2019 | TOREY VAN OOT

Minnesotans have picked the Democratic nominee for the White House in every election since 1972. Trump, who lost the state by just 1.5 percentage points in 2016, believes he can end that streak. With 15 months to go until the general election, the GOP is doubling down on efforts to turn Minnesota red, putting national campaign staff on the ground and hosting a series of training sessions to mobilize Republican voters.

“We’re really excited to be very, very ahead of the curve as far as historically staffing up, especially in a state that the president came within 44,000 votes of flipping last time,” said Stephanie Alexander, the Midwest regional field director for Trump Victory, a joint effort by the Republican National Committee and the president’s re-election campaign. “This is the first time this has ever been done,” she added.

The early infusion of GOP resources reflects a growing perception that Minnesota could be a battleground state — a status it has rarely been accorded in modern presidential politics. Nominees from both parties are expected to aggressively court voters across the Upper Midwest after narrow wins in states like Michigan and Wisconsin sealed Trump’s path to victory in 2016. Campaign manager Brad Parscale told the political news site Axios that Minnesota is one of the campaign’s top pickup targets for next year’s election.

“We will absolutely spend one more dollar than is necessary to win,” she said.

From the article. They are not going to just throw money at it like the dems. There are other useful assets, Trump being the main one.

“They have to get that Somali out of congress”

She is going to drive people to the polls in droves to get rid of Democrat extremism.

She is the perfect poster girl to run against - by all means, lets string her along through the 2020 election.

The comments after the article are really against Trump. They are also ignorant comments.

There’s been such an intense and unprecedented smear campaign against pdjt that he needs to really push hard for 2020. And of course the election fraud issue hasn’t been cleaned up either. In a number of states, it only takes one or two corrupted citizens counts to skew the results to the dnc.

This first sentance doesn't jibe with the rest of the story. They make it sound like Minnesotans have chosen the presidential winner since 1972, when they have only decided the Democratic nominee. Trump isn't trying to end the streak of them choosing the nominee.Let them choose the far leftist nominee. That will only help the Republicans.

I think there’s a shot. Lived in Minneapolis for a couple years. That city will always vote Democrat but that’s not necessarily the case in the rest of the state and if the rest goes for Trump, it will flip the state. Traditionally, the labor unions there have been heavily pro Democrat but those are exactly the kind of people the current Democrat party has abandoned....the kind who elsewhere in the Midwest flocked to Trump.

“He’s got so much money he can make them spend in states they used to take for granted.”

indeed. he’s gonna raise at least 2 billion this time, and will be sharing it with the RNC in order to get a Trump-Congress elected this time. Because ALL of the RNC’s fundraising is joint with Trump fund-raising, Trump in effect now owns the RNC and we’re not gonna see the RNC supporting anti-Trump candidates ... Trump’s popularity and fund-raising ability has essentially made the GOP the part of Trump ... as a consequence, pretty much the only elected GOP official publicly attacking President Trump is that piece of garbage, Mitt Romney ...

Of course the comments are negative. That’s expected for a state that elected Jesse Ventura, Whats his first name Franken, and the ONLY state that voted against

RONALD REAGAN, for Heaven’s sake.

It was close, and could have been won, but someone—either Reagan himself or Howard Baker IIRC—decided to ease up and leave the uber landslides to Madison and Washington. It was Mondale’s home after all.

MINN in play for both Trump and House (protect incumbents, get Colin Peterson and St Cloud seat pickups). St Paul media market covers much NW Wisconsin also.

This is why I think he can take Colorado this time too. The southern part of the state is latinos who are multi generation Americans, blue collar, and a giant steel mill increasing its output.
