Michael Savage Has Doubts About Trump. His Conservative Radio Audience Does Not.
The New York Times ^ | June 18, 2019 | Jeremy W. Peters

Posted on 06/19/2019 12:56:09 PM PDT by TBP

Now Mr. Savage is an outlier once again, dismayed more each day as the budget deficit continues to swell, thousands of new migrants are apprehended at the border, and the wall Mr. Trump promised to erect and make Mexico pay for remains unbuilt.

“Read my lips: no new immigrants,” Mr. Savage said one recent day, taking a swipe at what he says is just one of the president’s major unfulfilled promises.

But his skeptical take is not something many of his 7.5 million weekly listeners seem to want to hear as the president prepares to kick off his re-election campaign Tuesday with a rally in Florida.

“To too many people he’s not a human being, he’s a demigod,” Mr. Savage said one afternoon after wrapping up a broadcast from his home studio, which sits on a hilltop overlooking San Francisco Bay. This especially includes his colleagues in the conservative media, he said. “It’s embarrassing to listen to some of these people.”

The NYT is loving it.

The Hater of their Hater is their Friend.

Michael Savage, who changed his name like Bill de Blasio did, might end up being invited to a Tony Cocktail Party now.

Then he and George Will can make small talk thinking they made the grade while the other Guests whisper behind their backs.

I think it is a bit absurd to fault President Trump for his unkept promises when he is clearly the most promise-keeping POTUS ever.

Sure, there are some promises he hasn’t been able to deliver on - but focusing on that is like pointing out that Godzilla can’t fly.

I guess Savage doesn’t know that Donald Trump and Sean Hannity have known one another for decades.

I knew of him as Michael Weiner, author of books on herbs, available then through distributor Nutri-Books, before he was ever on the air.

Savage really needs to get down on his KNEES

And KMA

Nothing further I have already wasted more time on him than I need/want to

Michael Savage is essentially a libertine egomaniac (who brags about being a “sexual libertarian” while also claiming to be an advocate for “family values”). He does make some valid points, but everything is filtered through his massive ego.

His past with Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg are illustrative of his lack of authentic conservatism - since he does not denounce his past, but instead claims it was all necessary to make him the unparalleled icon he is today.

Savage really doesn’t like Hannity .........

Savage doesn't like Rush or any other radio host that is more popular than him I think what really pisses him of is that every time he bad mouths Hannity, O'Reilly or Rush, they ignore him...........

He used to brag that he took over Hannity's 3 - 5 time slot on WJR here in S.E. Michigan claiming they dropped Hannity to replace him with Savage.

The reality was, Hannity switched to Patriot radio which aired him on 101.5 FM AND 1400 a.m. in the 3 - 6 p.m. time slot...........

Hannity is still there and Savage was replaced by a local television hack named Guy Gordon........

Savage is still on WJR but doing the mignight shift........11 P.M. - 1 A.M........LOL!

McCain was a despicable human being. Given how he abandoned his first wife and married a rich eye candy gal, he was a gold digger.

And how he conducted himself as POW by cozying up to his Viet Cong captors didn't endear himself to his fellow prisoners.

He was dishonest and got caught with his hand in the till as one of the Keating Five.

He was always angry and seemed to know little about what was going on. He sided with some Syrian rebels and wanted the US to provide them with weapons. They turned out to be ISIS. Clueless. Looking for attention.

He epitomized what was wrong with politicians. Good riddance if you ask me.

I consider Rush Limbaugh profoundly disingenuous: He is too shrewd not to know that most Republicans in national office are globalist shills - controlled opposition - but he gives them cover by either: saying they do not understand that real conservatism wins elections; saying they are mindlessly intimidated by the media.

The RINOpublicans belong to Tom Donahue, George Soros, Wall Street, and K Street - and, through them, to China, Mexico, et al. They are complicit in the coup, and in the ruin of the nation. Rush knows that, but always stops short of declaring it flatly, and attacking them. He is part of the Club, and does not want to lose his gig.

So now we’re back to there’s ‘no other alternative’. What a strange long journey it’s been - almost 4 years to the date.

Not at all. POTUS is doing a great job AND there is no alternative.

I can’t help but notice the folks criticizing POTUS the most here continually give a pass to a Republican Party that LIED to GOP voters for 30 YEARS about wanting a wall. They have campaigned as conservative and governed as liberals since Reagan. 30 YEARS.

POTUS is not the problem. His own party does not support our MAGA agenda and in fact colludes with Democrats to obstruct it. That is no doubt a unique event in American history.

Given the police state tactics being deployed by the Deep State against POTUS and his supporters he is doing a FANTASTIC job. Is that clear?

I like Savage. I think along with Rush he insightful. But sometimes he is petty.

I've always liked Donald Trump, at least since the Wollman Rink days. I TRUST his judgement.

What is a Trumpbot? Someone who thinks he is doing a great job? Savage is a never Trumper and will turn on Trump every chance he gets.

I had this guy pegged as a fraud years ago.

Was that before or after he was outed for being a Moonbeam donor?

He was perhaps the only conservative talk show radio host who pegged Obozo as a fraud from the oughtset and wasn’t afraid to call him a usurper.

On 0bama, Rush maintained, “I hope he fails.”

That was on the MSM for awhile. I have no idea what Savage was saying at that time.

Savage’s analysis is absolutely correct.

The two most important issues in 2020 are:

(1) Insane government spending and insane government debt

(2) Massive legal and illegal immigration

Trump has been completely helpless on both issues.

Frankly, it does not matter, since Trump is the only Republican who can win a national election.

So, thank you, President Trump, for temporarily postponing America’s suicide.

I think he resents Hannity’s one-on-one interviews with Trump. He can be extraordinarily petty, yet right on most issues.
