Yesterday at the Womens World Cup, the U.S. defeated Thailand 13-0. The lopsidedness of the result is further proof that the tournament is a second rate sporting event.
Soccer is the worlds game, but womens soccer is not. Not many countries take womens soccer seriously and, with the possible exception of the U.S., those that do dont take it nearly as seriously as they take mens soccer.
Hence, mismatches like the U.S.-Thailand farce. There just arent enough competent womens teams in some continents to make up a strong world cup field.
At the real World Cup, a mismatch like yesterdays is nearly impossible. If the best mens team from Europe or South America played the worst team from Asia or North America, one would expect a 4-6 goal margin of victory. 13-0 is unheard of.
Its true that Germany defeated Estonia 8-0 yesterday in a mens game, but not in the World Cup. The Estonia team could never qualify for the World Cup as that tournament is presently constituted. And 8-0 isnt 13-0.
The U.S. rout over Thailand has given rise to a pair of controversies: (1) should the U.S. have run up the score and (2) should U.S. players have indulged in major celebrations after scoring the late goals.

“Screw em, hope they lose.”
I agree totally. To hell with the U.S. Women’s soccer team.
A top high school boys team would run the WNBA champions off the court, too - which is why you will never, ever see such an exhibition. :)
Have any of them actually come out as lesbians? Are any married?? - with children?? - just curious!
********************************************************
The coach, Jill Ellis is a ‘married’ lesbian and they have an adopted ‘daughter’(accessory) .
This would be the same coach who cut the United States best defender that plays outside back.
Oh, and that defender happens to be a devout Christian who refused to wear a shirt with the gay pride flag on it.
I fully confess that this is not a Christian thought but I hope they lose the championship from a play where an outside back gets blatantly beaten by an opposing player.
What is it with women these days ?
“...are any married...” I meant to ask if any were married to a male?
Running up the score is not the issue, its the way they behaved when they scored.
______
EXACTLY. I loathe the whole damn team.

I saw Coach Ellis during the national anthem time...She was singing along and she looked happy...Unlike Megan Rapinoe...
Yes, She decided not to call up that defender to the WC squad...Because her of religious beliefs or something else?
Not good enough to be on the team? I am not sure what the case is...There is a professional women’s soccer league in US. I don’t follow it.
There was a women’s pro team in Los Angeles ten years ago...I did go to a few games. Now LA has no pro women’s soccer team...
“Well, unless groin kicks are allowed. :D”
Allowed? They should be required! That would cut down on the fakers.
Do US Taxpayers revenue bank roll the training, equipment, travel, etc. for this team?

US Soccer Federation is a non profit organization...
I guess the Federation receives tax benefits...
Let me guess....tranny or gay?
Id bet that with the situation reversed, those women would be crying on the field. Big crocodile tears filling puddles.
No such thing as “running up the score”. Its a competition. You score as much as you can, the other teams score is their business. “Running up the score” is a crybaby concept developed by sore losers to ease the pain.
There should be no celebration on the field. Thats poor sportsmanship. Its less about celebrating than it is about rubbing your opponents face in it. If you want to be on a team then play, if you want to behave like a circus freak get the hell off yhr field and go join one.
