I am grateful this plane will not yet be back in the skies until we are done with our vacation on Memorial Day. I have no interest in catching a 737MAX anywhere.

I wonder if the instructions will be sent to the pilots this time?

I read an (opinion)) article earlier today that claimed the original 737 airframe design could no longer cope with the size, power and range design considerations of the latest models.

The only way to keep ahead of the curve was via software enhancements to the plane’s guidance system (like the MAX flight support package). The remarks were pretty negative in total..

If I can retrieve it, I’ll post the link later in the thread, unless someone else can find it in the meantime

I think this will now be the safest plane ever.

Ever.

It is just a shame it was (apparently) not 100% right to begin with.

And if they’re wrong, they’ll make a couple of more keystrokes, then reissue this press release.

BSOD used to be just figurative....

Is it safe to assume that M$ doesn’t provide s/w for 737s?

Well, as long as they don’t fly it into a ‘high and dry’ airport ....

OTOH, there will be no flight insurance available to purchase during the first 6-months of repaired 737 MAX flights...

This LINK is more about MH370 than the 737MAX but both are Boeing products.

Thanks [I think...].

““Boeing is working together with Microsoft, a leader in the technology space, to bring innovative operational efficiency solutions to global aviation customers,” explains Andrew Gendreau, the director of advanced information solutions in Boeing’s Digital Aviation division. “Boeing brings in their deep subject matter expertise, complimented by Microsoft’s deep technical expertise, and together we’ll be bringing new, innovative customer solutions to market.””

Too late, we’re screwed.

New motto: “If it’s Boeing [***cough**...*M$...***cough***] I ain’t going”.

Anyone around here got anything from Tupelov, or Sukhoi. Even maybe an Embraer (although they are hooking up with Boeing, I think, and the Sukhoi had Boeing roots.) Anatov, anyone?

I’ve survived all sorts of AirBus flights, old skool Boeings, Lockheeds, Douglas, etc.

My experience with M$ includes no shortage of crashes....

I survived a Tupolev 154 flight round trip from Moscow to Aktau in 1993. Granted, the odds were reasonable but I didn’t care to try it again any time soon.

Maybe to prove it, their flight tests will carry all the boeing top executives on the test jet.
