The Folly of the Mueller Investigation
NRO ^ | April 5, 2019 | Andrew McCarthy

A hysteria without a cause; a report without a point The pointlessness of it all. That is the major takeaway from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s much-anticipated final report on the Trump/Russia probe.

After an exhaustive 22-month investigation, Mueller found that there was no criminal collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. This was already manifest to anyone who had closely followed the investigation — anyone, that is, who had taken note that no predicate crime was specified when Mueller was appointed (the special-counsel regulations require one), or anyone who had read the indictments Mueller filed, which demonstrated that Russia’s operations predated Trump’s entry into the 2016 campaign, that some of them were actually anti-Trump in nature, and that Russia (which is notoriously adept at espionage) neither needed nor sought American collaborators. “There is no allegation,” observed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in announcing charges against Russian operatives brought by the special counsel he had appointed, “that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity.” Never was such an allegation even hinted at against the president, nor against any of his associates, a handful of whom were charged either with crimes that had nothing to do with the 2016 campaign or with process crimes (mostly lying to investigators) that were not committed until after the campaign was over.

Mueller was even arguably needed to answer only one question: Did President Trump obstruct justice? On that, Mueller abdicated, refusing to render a prosecutorial judgment. This dereliction of duty in his final act further elucidated that there was neither a legal basis nor a practical need for the appointment of a special counsel.

The bottom line, however, is not going to change: There never was a Trump–Russia conspiracy.

Andy McCarthy writes another brilliant piece. IMO worth taking the time to read it in total.

The pointlessness of it all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a point to it, to cover up the crimes of the Kenyanesian Usurpation and stop President Trump from halting or reversing the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA).
It’s still working.
The regulations prescribe that a special counsel may be appointed only if there is a factual basis to believe a crime has been committed as well as a conflict of interest that prevents the Justice Department from investigating. Here, there was neither.
Why did Mueller allow the investigation to continue for well over a year after it must have been patent that there was no collusion case?
Because he was in the Middle of OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE by keeping a cloud over the Presidents head
Mr President please declassify and release everything FISA related
This wasn’t a pointless act. The point of it was to drive Trump out of office. The dem/media/Soros axis hoped to make Trump’s life a living hell to the point that he would either have a stroke (he is, after all, a senior citizen) or get him to throw up his hands in disgust and resign. It was an outright attempt to thwart the will of the majority of voters in 30 states. Sitting at the top of this ugly chapter in American politics is one 0bama and right below him is Hillary Clinton. You can add Brennen, Clapper, Comey, and a host of other lesser known individuals.
Their thought was that once Trump was gone all their dirty work would be buried. They are still hoping for both the removal of Trump by any means necessary and the burial of their dirty work.
It might not seem so pointless if we could get a good look at several bank accounts.
I think a lot of people expected that Trump would throw up his hands and resign after being put through two years of hell.
They underestimated Trump. In fact, I think Trump wasn't even fazed all that much.
We need about 50 more special counsels with unlimited funds, dedicated jack booted thugs to kick down doors and arrest lawyers, and extremely partisan staffs to go after each person involved involved in the russian treason affair. Have seperate special counsels for each person. Start with the fisa judges and make sure you kick in the doors in the middle of the night and strip search their wives in case they are hiding evidence.
I agree each attorney on the panel and their firms should disclose every political contribution for 2020. These investigations are just ABA. Money makers.
I concur. If you listen to the two Byron York podcasts with Trump attorney John Dowd likely that impression of Trump’s demeanor will be confirmed. Captivating behind the scenes accounting and insights.
1. There was no predicate crime.
2. Collusion is not a legal crime.
