The chief executive officer of Dick’s Sporting Goods said Tuesday the retailer will stop selling firearms at 125 of its stores, The Wall Street Journal reported.
In a conference call, Dick’s CEO Ed Stack said the retailer will remove guns and some hunting gear after testing the idea in 10 stores last year, the newspaper reported.
The move continues a rollback that Dick’s began last year, when the company announced it would stop selling assault-style guns and would not sell weapons or ammunition to anyone under the age of 21. That announcement, made in the wake of a mass shooting that killed 17 people at a Parkland, Florida, high school in February 2018, resulted in a sales slump of 3.9 percent for the three-month period that ended Nov. 3, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The space the weapons occupied will be used to sell licensed sports gear and outdoor recreation equipment, Stack said during the conference call.

I grew up ( 70’s) when Dicks was a two store establishment in Binghamton NY. My brothers and I sold dry flies to Dicks, bought most of our (o the huge manatee!) traps and trapping gear from them.
Now, Dicks is a place I refuse to go to ( since the 90s I suppose- when they became a powder puff clothing store mainly...)
Oh, well, now I visit my local Farm and home store or gunshop, or by most of my expendables on line.

I can buy them at a few stores. I could drive an hour to a Cabellas.
Getting ammo via mail? I would have to have it shipped to another state, and then shipped to me.
The last time I was in one of their stores was probably 4 or 5 years ago.
I thought then the at merchandise was very poor. The store sucked.
I am surprised they are still around.
