The Blacksphere ^ | 02/21/2019 | Kevin Jackson

I now have been back in China for two years. I will be here for another two years, at least until October of 2020. After that I return to Florida. I want to give you some updated news from inside China. First, The Donald is winning the trade war…BIG TIME. As you know, I have been visiting or living in China for over 25 years. And based on that extensive knowledge, I can see the effects on the economy.

Past Presidents were absolutely clueless re international trade.

Or, they were letting China rip us off.

What people don’t realize is that the surge in the trade deficit from China was chiefly from American wholesalers stocking up on Chinese products and parts.

To a much smaller, but still significant extent, the Chinese were refusing to buy from America.

The whole angst over soybeans was ridiculous; if the Chinese buy Brazilian soybeans instead of American soybeans, Brazil’s former customers will buy American soybeans. You can’t successfully boycott a commodity; that’s why America blocks EVERYONE else from trading with Iran.

I meant to say for more than one growing season; there are, of course, contracts, for instance, which must expire before the market can respond.

There is not 100% agreement that these Bloomberg articles are totally accurate, however; the so-called ‘supply chain vulnerability’ is a real threat. Does anyone else think all silicon coming from China should be hit with a 50% tariff IMMEDIATELY to stimulate production elsewhere?

“Globalism is over”.

It’s certainly damaged. We should be concerned what happens after President Trump leaves the White House. It will be back to business as usual. I’m afraid.

Tariffs are simply taxes. There are plenty of places to get silicone wafers that are not China.

And China landed on the back side of the moon where they set up a colony. Please!

I agree, the author included too much detail about his friend.

It would be so easy to identify this guy. He has special access to China’s military and was allowed to teach 5,000 of them. He is world-reknown and LIVES in China under a visa.

Yeah, this guy is in deep dodo.

"I have been visiting or living in China for over 25 years. And based on that extensive knowledge..."

Just because someone has lived for a long time in a country doesn't mean that have extensive knowledge about its economy. I know people who have lived 75 years in the US, and they don't have a clue how the economy works.

When Trump leaves who will carry on? Pompeo? I think Pence is the kinder/gentler type.

It’s probably best not to constrain ourselves to the list of people who are well-known now. A true and charismatic disciple will seem to rise from nowhere.

It was W Bush who permanently normalized trade relations with the Chicoms. Fattened their economy to the point that they're now ready to fight us, and to destabilize the South China Sea.

Real visionary move, that.

The concept of Global Government is European. None of the Asian/Pacific rim nations or populations wants global governance.

Trade is a different story. All trading nations desire as many customers as possible. Extending sales efforts beyond national borders garners new customers so long as prices are competitive.

The author’s Hapkido friend will now wind up dead.

Hopefully the author is smart enough to lie about details. Maybe the friend has nothing to do with Hapkido.
I hope, anyway, or you're correct about being dead.
