Trump signs border deal, averting shutdown

President Trump on Friday signed a spending package to avert another government shutdown, his top spokesman said.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Trump approved the measure on Friday afternoon in the executive mansion. Reporters were not on hand to witness the bill signing.

The move came hours after Trump announced during a freewheeling, 50-minute news conference that he is declaring a national emergency to bypass Congress and obtain $8 billion for his long-desired border wall, a move that triggered a major legal showdown with Democrats.

“Looks like he/we lost. Maybe he’s not as smart is some think. In fact, he hopes we are dumb. In election he’ll claim he went to bat for us, it’s those bad democrats, but all the while he bumbled all the way to the finish line.”

No replies to this filth.

There is no way to spin this. It’s a betrayal. He signed a bill that contains language that specifically states he cannot go around it. So when he gets taken to court he will lose. This was loaded with FU poison pills and he signed it. He knew it and still signed it. I’m done, I just don’t believe anymore.

I get what you’re saying and don’t get me wrong, I’m for Trump and what he’s been able to accomplish thus far. However, the immigration legislation impact, from what I’ve read and researched, has put the US in a far worse position than where we were.

The wall/barrier is a big concern, but the bills wording, in many aspects, has made that effort pretty much futile. Unless Trump has a magic trick up his sleeve, the we’ve just witnessed our immigration situation blow up in our face.

Out of 438 people in Congress, you and I had about 154 people on our side.

I don’t think there’s much you can do with those odds.

Not being a wise guy but does that answer the question as to which was the worse bill for Trump to have signed? Wouldn’t it had been better to have signed the first bill 2 weeks ago and declared the emergency then rather than have this garbage bill?

They all claim they want the wall. Well, he declared a national emergency today and is going to build the wall. Once the wall is in place the illegals will be halted. Once the hordes have been curtailed, ICE can go about doing their job without worrying about the additions on a daily basis.

Oh, but Trump is moving fast enough for the FLeepers. I don’t care if they do claim to “normally” support the president. They are yellow today, and they’ll always be yellow.

This piece of garbage, as I understand it, limits Trump in so many ways that it would take years to unravel it. In the meantime much of what Trump wanted to do is out. And the illegals crossing the border will destroy America.

Maybe I took an extra stupid pill today but I don’t get that answer as to my question as to why Trump didn’t sign the first bill 2 weeks ago (and declare the emergency then also) so we didn’t end up with this mess.

Was it actually his goal to get the crap that was in this bill? He had to know what was coming 2 weeks ago when he shut down the government .

The border deal is pure pork, junk and poison. More money goes to non-Americans than to Americans.

Ouch... That was harsh! I’m in no way a #NeverTrumper, but I also don’t go and defend everything he’s done or will do.

In this particular instance, I would expect Congress and the President to take the time and read what was being signed and explain to the American people why the trash of a bill would be okay for the US! He stipulated the last go around (March, 2018) that “I will never sign another bill like this again”, but he did.

So many in this country begged him not to sign it! However, if there were specific reasons as to why he would, was in agreeance with the bill, he should plead his case before the country, but he didn’t.

This new law should be titled The Trump Resistance Movement Act, aka the big FU, sealed with a kiss, from Nancy and Chick. This is legalized sedition. Shame on the RINOs.

FR has this weird tendency sometimes to miss the forest for the trees. While everyone here is upset about the bill, the rest of the country, especially the proglibs, could hardly give a sh!t.

No, you know what they're freaking out about? That's right, let's put this in the proper context. The declaration may well very be the biggest thing - outside of the attempted coup - to occur during Trump's first administration. Actually, it's the first real offensive step of any substance he's taken since being sworn in. The declaration is going to dominate the news now until it is resolved either in Congress or SCOTUS - could take months.

No one cares about the small print in the bill. Laws are extremely easy to circumvent, challenge or fail to enforce. The nature of the wording was a cop out to allow the proggies to save some face. Consider accompanied children - they can only be processed if caught in the USA. The wall is intended to foreclose that action by blocking their path in the first place.

Anyway, I expect people will eventually come up for air and realize what the rest of the country is screaming about. The declaration is a really big deal, one that we should be congratulating Trump for literally crossing the Rubicon.

I agree. I would also hope that we can address this garbage in this bill later on.

Not really. POTUS stabbed in the back by his own party yet again. It shouldn’t be a surprise after the GOP have given the Mueller Coup aid and comfort for the past two years.

Yeah ok your position would have merit if Trump had signed a bill that pretty much guarantees he loses in court. He is now on record saying he will not do what the Emergency action does so he and we will lose. I am afraid he knew it when he signed it. At the very least he could have redirected the money before he signed this POS but he didn’t.

This is my hope (again, none of us have read the 1,000+ pages of this thing): The particularly awful bits are phased-in slowly enough that we can dodge them until the next election cycle.
